The Justice Department announced the arrest of two militia members Thursday associated with the violent anti-government "Boogaloo Bois" movement, including one who they allege sought to incite a riot in Louisville, Kentucky, "contemporaneous with the Capitol riots" on Jan. 6.

The suspects who were arrested by the FBI Thursday are John Subleski, 32, and Adam Turner, 35, of Louisville.

Subleski is charged with inciting a riot and committing an act of violence to encourage a riot in downtown Louisville "through the use of social media and other electronic communications," according to a statement from the DOJ.

While inciting individuals to riot, Subleski allegedly posted on social media: "Time to storm LMPD."..................

To my uneducated way of thinking, invoking the RICO statute would open a vast array of tools available to the Justice Department as they take down these traitorous shitheads.

Not taking a position but here is some discussion of RICO and the Capitol putsch.

Fortunately, insurrection cases are rare compared with classic organized-crime conduct. When they occur, prudence calls for charging them under a statute designed for insurrectionist violence — one that provides the same potential 20-year prison sentence as the standard RICO violation, but without RICO’s proof complications.

As I’ve detailed, seditious conspiracy could be a tougher proof for today’s prosecutors than it was for my team back in the Nineties. Our target was a cell led by notorious terrorists, so we were able to establish years of violent acts and plots. The Capitol siege was a one-day affair that, for many participants, was spontaneous. Nevertheless, it appears that for at least some groups, there is evidence of planning, training, and coordination. That would make for worthy insurrection prosecutions. It is logical that the prosecutors would consider using RICO, and it might be a viable alternative. But I found there was a better way, and I bet the Justice Department will, too.

I defer to the judgment of the pros, and I hope that the walls get completely covered with the hides of insurrectionists over time - including the insurrectionist-in-chief.

the same thing could the Democrats invoke the RICO law and the Sedition caucus can be held accountable?

the violent anti-government "Boogaloo Bois" movement

It wasn't too long ago when any mention of Boogaloo on DU was met with claims that it didn't exist.

It wasn't me that said the Boogaloo Bois didn't exist. However, I'm always finding more and more of these right wing groups that I never heard of.

Right wing guys running around in Hawaiian shirts is kinda weird, but so are shirtless right wing, "shamans" wearing bison horns, who eat nothing but organic food prepared lovingly by mommy.

so a lot of people may have gotten confused by deliberate misinformation or it was just too much for folks to accept. There are many RW extremists in this country and they are a threat. They might be disorganized and in little groups, or lone wolves, or some may be Qanon conspiracy theorists, but there are lots of them.

The world boogaloo in particular was a common source of denial for many DUers who don't want to accept that some segments of American society might want to kill us.
