Top State Leader Says 'Cuomo Must Resign.' Governor Says 'No Way.'
Source: New York Times
The leader of the Senate, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, a Democrat from Westchester County, said that New York was facing multiple challenges including the ongoing pandemic and had been buffeted by allegations about Mr. Cuomos behavior, his administrations toxic work environment, and handling of the states nursing homes.
Every day, there is another account that is drawing away from the business of government, she said in a statement, adding, We need to govern without daily distraction. Governor Cuomo must resign.
Ms. Stewart-Cousins is the most prominent New York State official to call for Mr. Cuomos resignation, and her statement is more than symbolic: In 2008, when Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned during a prostitution scandal, his decision was partially precipitated by a loss of support from Albanys legislative leaders.

Peculiar that the blogosphere is so much more perceptive than a Democratic leader that this is some inconsequential activity and/or a Republican plot

They're all gonna win! They're all gonna beat Cuomo.
At that rate Cuomo can run again & he'd probably win. Again.
Let the shitshow begin..

Furthermore, did they forget the shit the other side just straight up said "nah, we aren't resigning" to over the last 4 years? The bar for these things has been obliterated. You've got to show up with collaborating witnesses, audio and video.
I'm not saying to not believe his accusers here. Our leaders just need to actually take a few minutes and investigate the claims. You know, before squaring up to show we are better than Republicans. They don't actually respect taking the appropriate course of action over there.

Cuomo was on his own.
I will never fault the Gov in that crisis.
That is all on Trump.
As for the misconduct, I call bs on a few of them.

I mean, c'mon.
One says 20 years ago he was aroused when she was in a hotel room with him.
WTF EVER.
I say start having them all turn over their text messages from the last 3 months.
Betcha there was some doozy of a pile on buzzing around...

(6,092 posts)He was literally our only leader and comforter during the height and fear of the pandemic when our countrys leadership was MIA. He is from the old school when some behaviors were standard in society. Remember all the cringe worthy movies from not that many years ago where big flirting in the work place was acceptable? Its not ok and of course he has done the right thing by acknowledging how sorry he is and how embarrassed he is that he behaved that way. He shouldnt resign over it though and until the country goes after the worst offenders, the criminal offenders, like Trump, with more vigor, they should leave Cuomo alone!!!

(5,586 posts)Trump got less than 40% of the vote. I believed everyone here when they said Trump would pardon himself, and turns out it didn't happen. He didn't even pardon his kids.
Trump will get a slap on the wrist. Maybe he'll be double secret banned from running a charity. Trump and his future legal prospects should have ZERO weight applied to Cuomo and his actions while in office. Fuck Cuomo.

(1,402 posts)Andrew Cuomo is a good man - he is a single man so why can't he flirt with the opposite sex? I worked for the State of MN for many years and saw this man/woman thing many, many times. I do not think he should resign. I have seen young girls throw themselves at their superiors and vice versa. Let Mr. Cuomo do his job. My opinion is these gals are paid off by someone and are in it for the money or it is coming from from the right wing. Ms Cousins needs to tend to her own business and let Mr. Cuomo tend to his.

(6,976 posts)Totally agree.
My situation is a bit different, but I live in California and Grey Davis was also driven out on some bull shit. This state put GOP guy Ahnold in there as celebrity governor, and he proceeded to fuck this state up into complete and total HELL. Oh and by the way, Ahnold was married to Maria Shriver, and he was 'allegedly' boinking everything in a skirt while governor. Son with the housekeeper while married and governor. Maria also was pregnant at the same time as the housekeeper. The son looks more like Ahnold than any of his kids with Maria. Plus, Baena seems like he's a decent human being. Who'd have thought.
About His Affair: I 'Do Think About it Every So Often.'
Twenty years after secretly fathering a child with the family housekeeper, Arnold Schwarzenegger says hes still working to put the mistake behind him.
You do think about it every so often, The Celebrity Apprentice host reveals in Mens Journal, adding, And I can beat myself up as much as I want its not gonna change the situation. So the key thing is, how do you move forward? How do you have a great relationship with your kids?
The affair came to light the day after he left the California governors office in 2011. In a therapy session with his wife Maria Shriver and their four children, the actor confirmed he fathered a son with their maid Mildred Baena. Their child, Joseph, was 14 at the time. Shriver filed for divorce shortly after the revelation.

Ahnold was busy alright.
Son WHILE governor:
Not saying that Cuomo didn't make these women fell uncomfortable, which is wrong. I've been there and done that with Catholic Priests.
BUT, there's something very fish about the timing, and as we know we know, the GQP is notorious for going after people for their possible affairs/sexual lives for political capital & gain, and my God, we know how they roll with their OWN sordid marriages, affairs, telling mistresses to get abortions even though these man are anti-abortions for WOMEN in general.
Wonder what Roger Stone and the other filth buckets in the GQP have to do with this? Something's WAY off with the Cuomo situation and the timing.

The toxic office culture was enabled and enforced by other people, some of them women. Having him resign over that won't address the core problem.

(37,452 posts)this was a topic months ago with an investigation. From the very beginning they were not counting the death from nursing homes that died in hospitals. I got off a plane from Florida a day or so before the lock-down and my community was suddenly hit with multiple deaths in private nursing home. The county run facility had a large number. I meant with one ME office investigator at a funeral, and they said the number was much higher but for now they didn't include hospital deaths in their tally. Then there was the Medicare crap that came out of DC. Remember this was all going away.

A lot of the what nots can be found in the above report
*One of the factors that has been suggested by some observers to contribute to nursing home infections and subsequent fatalities is that the admission of COVID-positive residents introduced COVID into nursing homes. However, data does not support this assertion.

(36,132 posts)I'm assuming that AG James is assembling the evidence from the "many saw it and watched" group. Per your link, maybe we know why they watched:
According to an internal memo from September of that year, three black employees went to state human resources officials accusing Boylan, who is white, of being a bully who treats them like children....
Confronted with that and other workplace misconduct allegations including that she let her travel expenses pile up to the tune of $8,000 before reconciliation, and told a subordinate shed accept her resignation without consulting human resources in a subsequent sit-down with state honchos, Boylan voluntarily resigned her post, the documents indicate.
As for her alleging a toxic work environment, she'd apparently done her share.
