Police confirm Boulder shooting suspect bought gun legally as motive remains a mystery
Source: New York Daily News
The suspect accused of killing 10 people at a Colorado supermarket this week bought the powerful weapon legally, Boulder police confirmed Friday without offering a possible motive in the horrific mass shooting.
Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, purchased the semi-automatic Ruger AR-556 pistol in a gun store in Arvada, about 20 miles north of Boulder, authorities said. He was also caught with a 9-mm. handgun, but police dont believe he used that gun during Mondays rampage.
Police Chief Maris Herold said multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are working around the clock to determine a possible motive in the case.
Like the rest of the community, we too want to know why, she told reporters at a news conference. Why that King Soopers? Why Boulder? Why Monday? Unfortunately, at this time we still dont have those answers.

(9,998 posts)Practically Anybody can get an AR-15 style gun these days. It's not that difficult.
There's no reason for him to try to get it illegally. We make it nice and easy to buy a gun, and then a few days later, take the lives of 10 fellow humans.

(33,400 posts)He's exactly the type of person that cannot be trusted to have a semi-automatic weapon ever. He is as unorganized and poorly-regulated as the militia gets.
There's a trail of blood from coast to coast illustrating this point.
As my shrink always said, "they question isn't 'why', it's 'HOW'.
