White supremacist who killed 3 at Jewish sites in Kansas appeals death sentence

Source: Kansas City Star

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas Supreme Court on Monday will hear arguments in the appeal of F. Glenn Miller Jr., an avowed white supremacist sentenced to die after he was convicted of killing three people at Jewish sites in Overland Park in 2014.

Among other issues, Miller's attorneys say the trial judge in Johnson County made a mistake when he allowed Miller to represent himself in the penalty phase of the case. They also contend the death penalty unconstitutionally violates "the fundamental right to life" under Kansas' Bill of Rights.

Miller, also known as Frazier Glenn Cross Jr., was sentenced to death in 2015 after he was convicted of capital murder. His April 13, 2014, rampage outside the Jewish Community Center and the Village Shalom care center took the lives of Reat Underwood, 14; his grandfather William Corporon, 69; and 53-year-old Terri LaManno, who worked with visually impaired children.

"I'd do it again," he said, "if they ever let me out of here."

Is saying he has the "right to life" after murdering three people?

Guy needs a good kick in the ass on the way to his execution.

(And I still oppose capital punishment.)

11. Unless this is a federal case, he won't go to Leavenworth

And since he’s on death row, he wouldn’t go there if he had a federal sentence. The federal death row is at USP Terre Haute, IN.

but honestly, I consider the DP in this case too quick and merciful. A long life in prison is fine with me, away from family and friends, detached from what's happening in the world, just gradually getting older with plenty of time to reconsider a lot of things, something 99% of us do as we get old.

I doubt his sentence will be commuted, one of the dead was a kid.

I think the DP is barbaric and I"m glad my state abolished it. It will be hard to squeeze out a tear for this guy, though.

4. So this p.o.s. is being allowed to spew anti Semitic rant on a national newspaper?

And the legal team says he has a right to life? What about the right to life of his victims.
And the future victims from his hate speech?
Anybody ever watch Into The Abyss, Werner Herzog documentary?
I don’t know how much justice prevails when these criminals are allowed to get married and have children while in prison.

and IMHO it is the most humane thing for this convict, and best for our society. I respect the opinions of those who disagree.

There's absolutely zero doubt he did it, and what's more, there's no doubt he'd do it again if given the chance, since he said as much. I suppose there's always the possibility of rehabilitation over the many years he'd spend in prison, but given his words and actions, I'm inclined towards skepticism there. Some people are just irreparably broken, unfortunately. This guy seems like one of those.
