Women detail drug use, sex and payments after late-night parties with Gaetz and others

Source: CNN

The first thing some of the women were asked to do when they got to the house parties in the gated community in suburban Orlando was to put away their cellphones, according to two women in attendance who spoke to CNN in recent days. The men inside, a who's who of local Republican officials that often included Rep. Matt Gaetz, did not want the night's activities documented.

The partygoers, at times dressed in formal wear from a political event they'd just left, mingled and shared drugs like cocaine and ecstasy. Some had sex.

Gaetz, the brash Republican, liked to discuss politics, said one of the women. He behaved like a "frat type of party boy," she said, sometimes taking pills she believed were recreational drugs.

Details of the parties, which have not been previously reported, were described to CNN by two women who attended several of them over the past few years. Both spoke on condition of anonymity.

Are they going to push as hard now that a lot of them are caught up? Hmmm...looke how they didn't handle Trump accusations.

You have to have more than hearsay. And wonder why they'd say anything at all at this point. Craving some spotlight and fame? Which might translate into a career move that pays well. Oh.

No one makes these accusations to be in the spotlight or be famous and it certainly doesn't help careers. They get a lot of abuse from people that like the perp.

As far as Gaetz it isn't hard for me to believe. I often seen him in pictures with women before the scandal broke so not shocked when it comes to Gaetz.

Usually what the victim says is evidence. If you think about it these things usually happen in private and not in front of witnesses.

This sex crimes prosecutor probably best explains how evidence is handled in cases like this.

I Was a Sex-Crimes Prosecutor. Here’s Why ‘He Said, She Said’ Is a Myth

Americans have been told a dangerous myth. It is an old but enduring one, which gives its beneficiaries unwarranted power — and in many instances, is demonstrably false. The myth is that allegations of rape and sexual assault are often simply a matter of “he said, she said”; that when a woman accuses a man of a sexual assault and the man denies it, there is no way to discern the truth and the justice system is impotent. But so-called “he said, she said” cases can almost always reveal much more — if they are properly investigated.

Like many myths, the legend of “he said, she said” originated centuries ago. Under old English law, rape prosecutions could not be brought unless every material element of the victim’s story was corroborated by another witness or evidence. Because sexual assaults don’t usually happen in crowded pubs, this rule effectively barred many cases. Victims of any other type of crime — muggings, robberies, physical assaults — could provide the sole testimony at trial. Rape victims were uniquely excluded from the criminal justice system.

(Snip)

The corroboration requirement lasted for hundreds of years and became law in the United States. It blocked the prosecution of most rapes. For example, a study in 1969 showed that New York City’s corroboration requirement resulted in eighteen rape convictions out of 1,085 arrests. An outcry in the 1960s and ‘70s caused many jurisdictions to reconsider their requirement, leading to some notorious debates. Arguing that New York’s requirement was necessary, famed midcentury jurist Morris Ploscowe reasoned that “ladies lie.” Nevertheless, New York abolished its requirement in 1972. Today, most jurisdictions have deleted their corroboration requirement.

But its spirit still lingers in the concept of “he said, she said.” This much is obvious, since the myth only comes up in sex crimes. You never hear about a “he said, she said” mugging case.

didn't we already know that? Until there is proof that he had sex with an underaged girl, or paid people to have sex across state lines, he sounds like the perfect Republican politician, maybe a 2024 contender to replace the last John.

The drugs I totally agree with and support because I'm sure you have to be high in order to tolerate Matt Gaetz fat, ugly puss being anywhere close to your personal space, like in the same room even, nevermind on top of you.

In fact, a demand to be thoroughly medicated beforehand may well be a precondition, possibly involving the use of an Anesthesiologist to safely administer the huge quantities of narcotic needed to make the whole, awful experience bearable to these young ladies.
