Census Bureau announces 331 million people in US, Texas will add two congressional seats

Source: CNN

(CNN)The US Census Bureau announced Monday that the total population of the United States has topped 331 million people. The Census results found that Texas will gain two seats and Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina and Oregon will each gain one seat in Congress.

California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will all lose congressional seats ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

The new numbers represented a decrease in population growth when compared to growth between 2000 and 2010.

The numbers highlight what experts had expected: Political power in the country is shifting from states in the Midwest and Northeast to states in the South and West.

Funny thing was, when I was visiting relatives in Nevada Yahoo News had stories about people leaving Nevada.

Nothing but click bait.

That's why the GOP fought to keep the census count down. Now the Dems have get on top of the re-districting. Pronto!

We won’t be splitting our EV’s either.

That would take a ballot proposal and we haven’t had one for it.

That’s why Manchin and Sinema and any other moderate Democrats need to get on board and pass as much as Biden’s agenda as possible before the next election. If Republicans gold the House, nothing but gridlock will happen for two years.

Voting rights, infrastructure, climate legislation, the families act, and Dc statehood all need to happen as soon as possible.

Edited to add that we also need domestic terrorism laws so the FBI can go after the militias that are threatening so much violence.

7. Maybe a stupid question: have they released the actual state populations, or just the seats?

The official site just seems to talk about the congressional seats, as if that's all the census is for.
