St. Louis attorney famous for waving gun at protesters is running for U.S. Senate

Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch

JEFFERSON CITY — Nearly a year after waving a long gun at protesters who had walked onto the street in front of his Central West End mansion, Mark McCloskey on Tuesday said he is running for U.S. Senate.

McCloskey and his wife, Patricia, pleaded not guilty in October to charges of unlawful use of a weapon and evidence tampering.

After the gun-waving incident last June made international headlines, Gov. Mike Parson promised to pardon the couple if they were convicted, and the two later spoke at the Republican National Convention.

McCloskey made his announcement Tuesday on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” show.

for being a QOP Congressional candidate.

1. Gun nut. Check

2. Hates minorities. Check

3. Has white entitlement. Check.

4. Slightly more intelligent than plant life. Check

5. Promises undying fealty to Donald Trump. Check

Looks like the QOP has another winner on their hands.

Wants to become a U.S. Senator because being an ambulance chaser doesn't present enough grifting opportunities.

It’s been somewhat harder in heavily Republican areas for some mysterious reason. No wonder they’re tripling down on cheating.

Gun ownership is a huge deal in rural Missouri. They are happy our state has passed legislation that says we will refuse to follow a federal assault weapon ban (their reasoning is if blue states can ignore drug laws, red states can ignore gun laws).

Edit: no minds will be changed, and there are still plenty of Republican voters. Missouri isn’t going blue any time soon.

...won’t translate into more votes for blue for many rural voters. God and Guns for the sea of red outside of KC, Columbia and St. Louis.

I don’t know where you live, but I am in the middle of the red and they would never vote for anyone that would want to pass legislation that would not allow them to buy or own semi-automatic weapons (especially if the legislation is lopsided and lets the cops keep all the semi-autos but everyone else gets lesser technology); and most will also vote for those who are happy about the Supreme Court’s decision to take up an abortion case.

That is my take; maybe yours is different. I have no doubt that we picked up some votes; but not a culture shifting amount.

Wilson said that should Carnahan be elected, he wanted to appoint his widow, Jean Carnahan, to serve in her husband's place; Mrs. Carnahan stated that, in accordance with her late husband's goal, she would serve in the Senate if voters elected his name. Following these developments, Ashcroft resumed campaigning.[14]

Carnahan won the election 51% to 49%. No one had ever posthumously won election to the Senate, though voters had on at least three occasions chosen deceased candidates for the House of Representatives.[15] Ash
