Marjorie Taylor Greene compares House mask mandates to the Holocaust
Source: CNN
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, during an interview on a conservative podcast this week, compared House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to continue to require members of the House to wear masks on the chamber floor to steps the Nazis took to control the Jewish population during the Holocaust
Greene, in a conversation with the Christian Broadcast Network's David Brody on his podcast "The Water Cooler," attacked Pelosi and accused her of being a hypocrite for asking GOP members to prove they have all been vaccinated before allowing members to be in the House chamber without a mask.
"You know, we can look back at a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany," Greene said. "And this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about."
Jewish groups were quick to condemn Greene's remarks.

(14,855 posts)I laughed with tears streaming down my face when he mistakenly thought his girlfriend had sex with his hated boss! The first time that I saw the film, anyway.
I later had a LAZY boss who reminded me a lot of Lumbergh! Very similar smugness with narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies. The guy had worked as a manager his entire adult life!
He showed up at my father's funeral, probably just to verify that I had a legitimate excuse to not be at work, and my mother kept complimenting him for being "handsome." So he gobbled it up and then lingered for far too long, mostly talking about himself as usual.

(5,134 posts)About ten years ago, I was rushed to the hospital with chest pains before I left for work one morning. My mate and I both contacted the boss a.s.a.p. to let him know what was going on. He was all "Just get better" and such. Then, about two hours later, the pone rang in my room. I answered it, and it was the boss. 'Why are you calling on the room phone?' I asked. I got some hemming and hawing about having it in his hand when he wanted to call me to ask if I needed anything. (Bottom line, he was checking to see if I was, in fact, in the hospital.) The guy turned out to be a real basket case and fired me a few years later in a play that any rethug would recognize as the desire to be surrounded with 'yes' men... something that became all but impossible for myself and a few others because it was obvious that there were issues with him and they needed to be addressed. (Why yes, he is a registered rethug who voted for both Bushes and openly accused Obama of being 'not enough of a politician'.... a thinly disguised racial attack as far as I was concerned.)

... about her "encouraging" my boss with compliments, and she replied that he was at least nice enough to appear at my father's funeral. I answered that he absolutely didn't do it to be nice or respectful, if she really knew him like I did. I didn't dwell on it too much because we were all mourning, especially her after being married to my father for 63 years.
That boss (in his mid-50's at the time) bragged to me that he was a manager at age 18, right out of high school, and that he was never anything lower than a manager at all of his jobs.
One of the most entitled pricks that I ever met!
He even shared a story of one of his past managerial jobs in which he was given an assignment to write a report for an executive at the place. So he naturally just passed it off to an employee under him, like he often did to me. He then shared that the employee never did it, and the executive was furious at HIM for not having it done in time. He acted totally flabbergasted by it! He told the executive that he gave the assignment to so-and-so at that place, so that person was to blame for not getting it done. He then shared that the executive screamed at him about it, telling him that HE gave the assignment to HIM! Not so-and-so! So, yes, he was at fault!
Then my boss bragged that his "many years of managerial experience" made him so valuable to job hunters, and he decided to no longer be "abused" at that place any longer! So he applied for other managerial jobs, and that's how he found the management position at our employer.
I actually looked him up online a few months ago, half-hoping that he died from Covid or something (lol), but he's still alive and working at that same company. Close to retirement age now.
Edit:
I almost forgot to mention that he was a Republican too, like your boss. Of course! Those types never want any government regulations that might shake up the non-meritorious grifting they've found for themselves in the private sector. Our often feudalism-like corporate organizations, with a small number of "lords" sticking together as the lowly serfs do the actual work, is what they want to maintain. And like most corporations, the actual owners (stock owners) aren't even aware of the nitty-gritty details of how those companies are operating.

(14,855 posts)My oldest brother-in-law is a lifelong Republican who is that way.
He always hated my family. He was even mean towards me when I was just a little kid!
I later asked my oldest brother about him, and he replied that he was a bully who only seemed to respect mean people.
Then I decided to test my brother's idea during a holiday gathering at my brother-in-law's house. (It was one of several holiday visits that year, long ago.) If a long-haired guy was on his TV, I made a comment that he was obviously some kind of sissy. Then when a short-haired guy was later shown, I said, "Who the hell does he think he is?! GI Joe?!"
After I did that stuff for awhile, he eventually looked at me with a grin and expressions of respect, like he was thinking there was finally a worthy member of my family!
So my brother was correct about him.

(81,516 posts)That is a staggering sum of money for a House member, especially for a freshman who is more than a year out from her next election. For context, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), then a freshman, raked in $728,000 in the first quarter of 2019.

(38,436 posts)Indeed, it is hard to define a: stupid, insensitive, idiot. Green defined herself by saying this by saying this:

"You know, we can look back at a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany," Greene said. Green went to far. She is falling off a cliff as we talk. She doesn't even know that she has stepped too far, but that is
another part of her stupidity and insensitivity...Good By Marjorie. In your next job don't talk about a respected leader
the way you just did. And have fun looking for that job, it will take a while...
