Obama Camp Releases New Ad
Source: TPM
President Obama's campaign released a new television ad Tuesday, urging voters to compare the president's plan for the country to Mitt Romney's. The ad, titled "Determination," will air in New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin and Colorado.

(73 posts)About this vote with my mother-in-law, who is planning to give hers to that idiot.
This ad is outstanding, and it's just the plain honest truth people watching Fox can't get -- are not being shown.
The president is literally trying to save a great nation from ruin! Can't good decent (outside Congress) conservatives see this?!

(27,985 posts)I know it can be scary to talk to family or even family in law, but it's just the right thing to do. Welcome aboard and yes, "Faux News" is really just the propaganda arm of the Republican party.

(125 posts)Cannot see this. America is a divided nation. People often complain about gridlock, no cooperation, no reaching across the aisle to find the middle ground.
But...There is no middle ground. Think it about it. One side wants free abortion on demand, the other wants to limit or outlaw abortion. One side wants gays to receive full privileges, the othe side wants to put a constitutional ban on gay marriage. Many on this side (certainly not all) think access to guns should be extremely restricted, while many on the other side wish to remove all regulation. One side wants the rich to pay more, the other side doesn't. One side wants woman and minorities to get extra help when and where they need it to make up for past injustices, the other doesn't want anybody to get any extra privilege that they cannot buy.
I could go on and on and on. Abortion, like it I said, one side wants unlimited free access, the other side wants zero access. And both sides really sincerely, completely believe they are right. Where is the middle ground there? It doesn't exist.

(10,437 posts)What is unlimited free abortion on demand?
I'm just stating what is a growing trend amongst progressives, from people I've spoken with both in person and online I live in a very blue state, so perhaps that affects my perception.
Like I said, there are certainly liberals who think very differently on various issues. But since President Obama's first election, there has a been a trend of extremism from the tea party, etc, and a certain measured response from progressives to counteract it.

(8,514 posts)And welcome to DU.

(6,148 posts)In many states, there are many laws that make women go through multiple steps to get an abortion. And over 50% of America is "pro-life", but defends the right of females going through rape or incest, or where their life is threatened. Many people are in the middle about gay rights, saying the states should decide. MANY, including Obama, have not done anything to restrict guns, and the only guns most of us want to restrict are assault rifles. Many people are more for equal pay and equal access than "making up for injustices". That's "middle road". "Injustices" are not a thing of the past yet, and everybody needs to acknowledge that there are still racial and gender preferences in hiring and promotion.
So, there is a LOT of middle ground. You may not see it here in DU, which is a progressive website, but moderates exist.

(6,635 posts)true Tea Party "Conservative." Isn't it strange that neighbors, friends, co-workers, families, and even strangers can see through this attempt to divide and come together when it counts?
You are correct, however, that there is no middle ground for extremists and religious terrorists.

(20,718 posts)America has always been centrist. Only the current leaders in the republican party are the extremists. And there really aren't any more of them now than there ever were. They just have huge money and internet access pumping up their small influence into what seems like the majority of the GOP.
But real people aren't there. Only the gazillionaires and idealogues are there. The rest of us are centrists: We know that there isn't unlimited money and so we have to pick and choose carefully: We can't run wars all over the earth and keep lowering taxes and expect to survive the deficit, all at the same time.
But we also know we don't have to fix everything tomorrow at the expense of rationality. We know it will take some time.
America isn't divided: It's deluded. America thinks it can have everything without paying for it. Both sides think this way.
Obama has been operating in the middle and has accomplished more than any president I can think of. But the money and Fixed news make it seem otherwise.
Some of us are informed and some of us are just simple blamers, but we're mostly centrists.

(27,985 posts)Hell, if I hadn't already voted for the guy, that might just have done it. Of course, there was never any question of who I was voting for. Whatever policy problems I have with this administration will be held over for the second term.
And there will be a second term, assuming that neither horses nor bayonets can vote, that is.

It seems that the more one sees of the Rmoneys, the less one likes them.
But Pakistan(!) prefers Rmoney to Obama and is the only country to do so. Our drones might have something to do with that. I guess that they definitely prefer the Devil They Don't Know.

(11,923 posts)and it's selfish of me, but I *REALLY* wish Obama/Biden could serve 4 terms. Maybe by then we would have erradicated much of the Teapubliklans (or they would have done themselves in by getting arrested for their 'family values'). I wish we never had to swing back to them, but it's innevitable at some point.

(5,810 posts)Unfortunately, Karl Rove and others just like him will be running counter ads nonstop until Nov. 6th. The President's message should move anyone with doubts to vote for President Obama. It is well done, positive and doesn't say all is OK...just that things are improving and more needs to be done, Oh and give him another term to finish the job! Let us hope that people can hear the difference between Obama's ad and the scare tactics put out by Rove and others.

(2,730 posts)According to Ben Begala and Chuck Todd, it is over in North Carolina. Somebody needs to get their facts straight. They both told the news media, Obama gave up on North Carolina. If this is not the case, somebody needs to straighten Begala out.
