'The pandemic is not over': Chicago reinstates COVID-19 travel order for 2 states
Source: WGN Chicago
The Chicago Department of Public Health announced Tuesday that two states have been added back to its emergency travel order.
Missouri and Arkansas are the only states where unvaccinated travelers returning to Chicago are advised to obtain a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 72 hours prior to arrival or quarantine for a 10-day period upon arrival.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and this only goes to show that the virus is still very much a threat and that we must all remain vigilant against it, said CDPH Commissioner Allison Arwady, M.D. That means getting vaccinated and wearing a mask in public settings if you are not fully vaccinated.

Congratulations Missouri and Arkansas! 'No states had been on the citys COVID-19 travel restriction list since the start of June.'

(2,868 posts)The highly vaccinated states will want to restrict entry of those from low-vaccinated states.
Break out the license plate readers at the borders.

(2,868 posts)Did you miss when a number if states were previously pulling over cars from certain states as they crossed their border? Nobody claimed it would be 100% effective then, nobody is making that claim now.
All I'm saying is, been there done that.

(32,009 posts)Millions of cars move in and out of Chicago everyday at probably a thousand different entry points. No one is going to be pulling cars over. They did not do it at the height of the pandemic and they are not going to do it now.

(2,868 posts)When the number of coronavirus cases began to skyrocket, several states, including Rhode Island, Florida and Texas, took the unprecedented step of setting up border checkpoints to stop nonresidents who might be carrying the virus.
In Florida and Texas, state troopers are requiring motorists from out of state and their passengers to sign forms promising to self-quarantine for 14 days. Florida, Rhode Island and Texas also require travelers to provide an address where they plan to shelter and advise them to be prepared for a follow-up call or unannounced visit from public health officials.

(32,009 posts)I notice your links did not mention either Illinois or Chicago as I knew they would not. Neither Chicago or Illinois ever pulled over any cars.
WHITT
(2,868 posts)I only referenced "states".
The POINT, which you missed, was that it started with 'emergency travel orders' issued by states AND metro areas, and then escalated to border checkpoints. As I posted, we've already been there.

(45,446 posts)it sounds like the region is a popular vacation spot for Chicagoans. Most rural areas are likely to be less vaccinated. People are unlikely to mask while on vacation.
