White House and Pelosi aides test positive for coronavirus amid Texas lawmakers' D.C. visit

Source: NBC

A White House staffer and a senior communications aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have tested positive for Covid-19 after being fully vaccinated, a White House official and a spokesman for the California Democrat confirmed Tuesday.

Pelosi's aide received the diagnosis after coming in contact with members of the Texas Legislature last week, the speaker's spokesman, Drew Hammill, said.

The aide "has had no contact with the speaker since exposure," Hammill said. Additionally, the entire press office was working remotely Tuesday, with the exception of those who had no exposure to the aide or have recently tested negative, he said.

Axios, which was first to report the infections, said the White House staffer had been at an event with Pelosi's aide last week.

Very high rate of vaccination among those exposed should keep any bad outcome to a minimum.

vaccinated folks are catching it, someone may have a strong strain, someone photographed without a mask on a plane, perhaps

I think its been proven that 80% of the infections are caused from 20% of the carriers ( before delta anyway)

The CDC considers anything above 5% to be high risk. And it has just been announced that they will not be releasing numbers on how many more test positive. That doesn't bode well for the virulence of this new strain.

to make sound decisions.

Refusing to release more information allows those who continue to enhance the effectiveness of the vaccine (alone) and downplay the danger posed by Delta wll lead to more infections because people deferring to the great god CDC will continue to have an unreaslistic view of the real danger, and will contine to do nothing more than rely on the vaccine.

It should have been clear all along, but this incident alone makes it abundantly clear that vaccines, alone will not protect us from Delta - and especially will not protect any unvaccinated children with whom vaccinated adults with breakthrough cases come into contact.

As all of them were vaccinated, it appears they brought it with them from Texas, and gave it to others in DC.

Crap.
