Wildwood, Eureka and Chesterfield will not enforce St. Louis County mask mandate
Source: St Louis Post Dispatch
Its a St. Louis County enforcement issue. Its not a Wildwood enforcement issue, and so what Im saying is, I dont think our residents need to be told to mask up or to social distance or what have you, said Bowlin. So as far as Wildwood is concerned, using our resources to enforce a county rule, we dont plan to do that.
While the threat of the Delta variant remains high for the state, Bowlin worries that attempts to make all people wear a mask regardless of vaccination status takes away a major incentive for getting the vaccine.
Im concerned that that requirement could actually discourage people from becoming vaccinated, said Bowlin.

(5,938 posts)How much BS is contained in this quote. We can't mask because then we'll have to mask in perpetuity? WTF How the right wing brain works is a scientific mystery for the ages. An uptick somewhere? Nice way of minimizing the 400% NATIONWIDE increase in the last month. the 7 day average was around 12,000/day end of June, now it's near 50,000/day. According to Mayor Bowlin that's just an uptick..
"When we see a rule like this latest mask mandate that's simply based on an uptick somewhere that we maybe want to get ahead of, and COVID is not going to go away, which means if this is going to be the standard, we'll be doing this in perpetuity and that's simply isn't practical or workable, said Bowlin.

(38,958 posts)2nd Congressional District in St. Louis County. The Esteemed Mayor may not actively enforce the order but as they are in the County I suspect business will at least have signs up at their doors and their employees wearing masks. I have already received an email from one grocery chain to that effect.

It's a dark and stupid silver lining, but I'll take it.
