COVID-19 in Arkansas: State sees highest single-day increase in deaths from virus since March

LITTLE ROCK, Ark As hospitals around the state report operating at full capacity, new data from the Arkansas Department of Health shows the state just had its deadliest day since March in terms of COVID-19.
Chancellor: COVID-19 hospitalizations at UAMS pass January high
The ADH report shows 23 deaths in the last 24 hours, the highest death count from the virus since March 12 when 27 new deaths were reported.
Health officials reported 621 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total case count down to 375,971. The active case count dropped to 14,627.
Another 61 new hospitalizations were also reported in the last 24 hours. bringing the current total to 980 inching the state closer to 1,000 total patients in the hospital. This figure has jumped by 668 from just one month ago on June 26 when they were at 312.

(1,732 posts)It is really sad to see the Unvaccinated Pandemic going on right now and while I do feel similarly with most posters on this thread that I don't have much sympathy to those that choose to be unvaccinated, we do have to remember that there is a group of our population that cannot get the vaccination for various reasons. It is selfish for those that have the option and refuse to get it, but it puts some of our population into a very high risk based off the increasing numbers here.
I have a good friend that has been working on the vaccinations since COVID began and we talked about this last week and my sentiment about how IDGAF about these unvaccinated people and she reminded me that the larger this spreads, the higher the chance we have to develop more concerning variants similar to the Delta variant. Our present vaccinations could potentially not work towards future variants.
Be safe out there folks, and let's show some compassion. Love always wins.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson says a special session to revisit the states ban on mask mandates in schools is an option as the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state has surpassed 1,000.
The governor met with legislative leaders Tuesday to discuss the possibility of a holding a session on the ban enacted in April that bans local and state government entities, including schools, from requiring the use of masks.
