US vaccination rate hits the highest pace in weeks

(CNN) — The rate of Covid-19 vaccinations in the United States continues to rise, a positive sign amid skyrocketing cases and hospitalizations after weeks of lagging inoculations.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Sunday that 816,203 additional doses were administered, the fifth straight day the agency recorded more than 700,000 shots in arms. That brings the total number of doses administered to 346,456,669, according to the CDC numbers released Sunday.

The seven-day average of administered doses is now 662,529 per day, the highest average since July 7.

Additionally, Sunday was the third day in a row that the seven-day average of people getting their first shots topped 400,000. The last time that metric was over 400,000 was the July Fourth weekend.

1. Anecdotal, but I saw several people in line at the pharmacy this weekend

I went twice, and there were about 3 people in line both times, plus people waiting who had just gotten jabbed.

2. Georgia is getting the most new vaccinations this week

followed by Hawaii, New Mexico, and then some red states. Interesting to not see some of the hard hit states like Florida.

4. Florida is up 20%. Louisiana 42%. Glad to see both.

Missouri 1%. Arkansas 5%. There are going to be a lot more deaths.

5. The problem is, that with the Delta variant burning though some areas ..

there isn't enough time for a lot of these people to be fully vaccinated, even if they go with the one shot J & J.
