The Republican Party of Macomb County, Michigan voted on Thursday to censure three GOP state senators whose investigatory panel found no evidence of fraud in the 2020 presidential elections. Macomb County is the state's third-most populous county.

The party's executive committee voted unanimously to censure Senators Ed McBroom, Lana Theis and John Bizon. The three senators served on a Senate Oversight Committee which issued a June 2021 report concluding that there was no fraud in the state's November 2020 election.

Trump lost the 2020 election by over seven million popular votes and 74 electoral votes. Trump's own attorney general and federal head of election security both said there is no evidence that fraud affected the election's outcome. Nevertheless, Trump, the Republican party and others continue to baselessly claim that an unprecedented nationwide conspiracy of voter fraud "stole" the election from him.

article. I didn’t mean to be snarky. However, I really did chuckle to myself as I noted how the first two news items were so odd in juxtaposition to the third, and I’d just watched the cat existential crisis video that someone had posted.

I don't see the point in censuring such people when they don't find evidence of fraud.

For argument's sake, let's say he went along and claimed to find evidence of fraud.

The very next question asked to him would have been "Really? What was it?"...and then he'd be standing there with a stupid look on his face as he's completely unable to answer the question.

I think you're a lot better off letting people who aren't going to be able to lie convincingly for your cause to tell the truth rather than pressuring everyone in the future to lie whether they're any good at it or not.

But I guess being thoughtful and nuanced in dealing with things isn't a strong point of the MAGA crowd.
