Roseberry relative warned authorities of possible violence in DC a day before Capitol Hill bomb thre

Source: CNBC

The North Carolina man whose claim of having a bomb in his truck parked on Capitol Hill led to evacuations of the Supreme Court and other buildings was charged Friday with threatening to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempted use of an explosive device.

The man, Floyd Ray Roseberry, was also ordered detained without bail at a hearing in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., pending a medical screening, a day after he ranted on a Facebook livestream that the “revolution starts today” while threatening to ignite explosives.

Later Friday, a court filing revealed that a relative of Roseberry had warned North Carolina law enforcement authorities on Wednesday — a day before the bomb threat — that Roseberry recently expressed anti-government views and planned to travel to Washington or Virginia to conduct acts of violence.

The same filing contained a photo of Roseberry in his truck holding a can that later was found to contain powder of unknown origin. /SNIP

His target and time was so vague that they couldn't stake out two states and monitor every truck on the beltway. A tip from a family member isn't enough to warrant a search or arrest I assume. If they investigated everybody in North Carolina who doesn't like the govt, there would be a lot more elbow room.

Kudos to the family for the tip.

America's families, wives, girlfriends, friends and employees have provided a lot of tips. They don't want to see violence, if only because they don't want their loved ones in deep trouble. The tide is turning however slowly.

he said he hadn't taken his "mind medicine" in a couple of days. Now what that "mind medicine" is could determine a lot. If it's an antipsychotic, that's one thing. If it's an antidepressant or anti=anxiety med, that's quite another.

drive his sorry ass to DC,
Find the Library of Congress,
Park on the sidewalk and create sort of a “set” by littering all around his vehicle with fresh dollar bills
Maintain battery life on his phone so he could set up his phone and record himself on a live stream video to FB or wherever…
He carried out quite a bit of complicated, pre arranged, organized things.

So that's something to be worried about. He could claim he was not in his right mind to make such a mistake.

Has is been reported yet what the powder was? While the incident was on-going he threatened that there were others station around DC who also were ready to ignite explosives.

Guess all that was a huge bluff. Wish authorities would let us know first if he had explosives in that can, and second if there were others working with him.

Also they need to jail the bastard so he never sees the light of day again.
