11 Republican members of Congress sent a letter to 13 companies threatening to pursue all legal remedies if they hand over records to the January 6 select committee.
On Monday, CNN reported which members of Congress the committee is seeking phone records from:
The list is said to be evolving and could be added to as the investigation steps up. As of now it includes Republican Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Jim Jordan of Ohio, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Paul Gosar also of Arizona, Mo Brooks of Alabama, Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Jody Hice of Georgia and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania.
Boebert, Greene, Biggs, Gosar, Brooks, Cawthorn, Gaetz, Gohmert, Hice, Perry, and Jim Banks co-signed the letter to the following companies (per Fox Business): Amazon, AOL, Apple, AT&T, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Snap, T-Mobile, Twitter, U.S. Cellular, Verizon and Yahoo.

Verizon in turn sold off the Yahoo assets to chop-shop Apollo Global Management.
Who knows if there's any Yahoo scraps left at that mail address.
Despite the facts, these republican numbnuts think they're
being all badass issuing huffy-puffy threats.
We're reached peak stupid, folks.

(17,881 posts)They tend to grossly inflate their actual importance. Individually and in small groups, House critters don't really amount to much. 218 House critters means something. 11 are meaningless.

(1,522 posts)Former President Donald Trumps Justice Department reportedly secretly seized the phone records of Democratic members of Congress, their aides, and family members in an effort to hunt for leaks from stories about Trumps associates ties to Russia.
The explosive story, first reported by the New York Times, details an extraordinary effort by the Trump administration to use the investigative power of the Justice Department to carry out the then-presidents bidding as it sought the sources of politically damaging stories.
The two members of Congress are Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), both of whom were members of the House Intelligence Committee. At least a dozen peoples records were subpoenaed. No charges seem to have resulted.
Investigators reportedly debated closing the case based on lack of evidence and other factors, but following the ouster of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, his successor, William Barr, revived it, the Times reports.

(35,619 posts)I don't think they do. I think they are so removed from reality that they really do not understand how this comes off. Add what's called groupthink, and they reinforce each other, thus making it even more remote as to what kind of image they project.
I'll bet they have no clue that people like us sit around watching their every move, putting their bullshit into focus.

Also, SCOTUS ordered Trumps tax records to be turned over to Congress so what basis is there for denial of this Congressional request. I just don't see it.

Of the 35 preservation orders issued on Monday, telecom firms face the more complex demands. The companies were asked to preserve certain cell site locations to identify from where calls were made, records for incoming and outgoing calls, and text message content...
