Abortion Providers Win Order to Stop Group Enforcing Texas Law

Source: Bloomberg Law

Texas abortion providers won a temporary restraining order against Texas Right to Life and its associates Friday, blocking them from suing providers and health care workers at Planned Parenthood health centers in the state under a new law.

Planned Parenthood sued the anti-abortion group in state court to stop the group from enforcing Texas’ new six-week abortion ban.

Texas’ six-week law creates a “probable, irreparable, and imminent injury in the interim” for Planned Parenthood, its physicians, staff, and patients throughout Texas, Judge Maya Guerra Gamble of the Texas District Court for Travis County wrote in the temporary restraining order.

Providers would have no adequate legal remedy for that injury if they’re subjected to private enforcement lawsuits against them, Gamble said.

Fatal shootings of 3 at a PP clinic in Colorado Springs .. 2015
Dr David Gunn Pensacola, Fl shot in the back 3 times 1994
George Tiller Wichita, Ks 2009
Since 1997 there have been 8 murders, 17 attempted murders, multiple bombings and 186 arsons targeted at clinics. These are not children of god. These are homegrown terrorists. There are more statistics that make me sick. I don’t like a lot of things but by god, I don’t resort to violence n neither do most of us but these are the kind of people out there who are willing to do the most violent of acts against those they disagree with. We have a very violent foe on this issue. I’m just talking about THIS issue

I got to watch part of the hearing and judge was not happy with with Jones and his current attorney and hinted that another attorney would not be likely to be admitted. Susan Bankston got to watch the entire hearing and she was pleased
https://www.statesman.com/story/news/2021/09/01/sandy-hook-parents-texas-judge-sanction-alex-jones-infowars/5662371001/

On Tuesday, their lawyer appeared before state District Judge Maya Guerra Gamble in Austin to argue that Jones must be sanctioned for violating rules on pretrial discovery, as well as previous court orders, by withholding vital information that was first requested in 2018.

"We still don't have the most basic information about this case," lawyer Mark Bankston told the judge, arguing that Jones has failed to provide a wide range of requested evidence, including video of his on-air discussions about Sandy Hook, relevant transcripts and the content of social media accounts.......

Because the pattern of abuse was so egregious, Bankston argued, the parents should be able to skip next year's trials on whether Jones defamed them and proceed directly to determining how much money they're owed in damages.

Bankston also asked the judge to find Jones in contempt of court for violating previous orders to provide the requested information.

I can't figure out if the State of Texas has standing to appeal..LOL...After all it's between two private parties..LOL

TRTL will appeal...The appeals court will side with the District Court (Democratic)

TRTL will then appeal to the Texas State Supreme Court, where the injunction will be overturned (Republican)

First it has to go all the way to the Texas Supreme Court, then whatever decision they make can be taken to the US Supreme Court.
