Source: Washington Post
Update: Mexicos supreme court voted unanimously Tuesday to decriminalize abortion. The courts decision makes Mexico the most populous country in Latin America to permit the procedure.
The story will be updated.
Original story:
MEXICO CITY Mexicos supreme court appeared poised Tuesday to decriminalize abortion, a striking step in a country with one of the worlds largest Catholic populations and a move that contrasts sharply with tighter restrictions introduced across the border in Texas.
Eight of the 11 supreme court judges have expressed support for decriminalization in arguments that began Monday. A ruling was possible Tuesday, after the three others spoke.

(34,136 posts)Unless they are going to make every woman crossing the border pee on a test stick, they will have no way to check.
And if the women do get abortions, will their hormones change quickly enough to test not pregnant upon their return?

(10,160 posts)Otherwise they would end up with very few citizens to abuse. Yeah the wall was to stop that. But travel restrictions, ID laws and document requirements also can stop or severely slow down emigration.
But still there is some amount of immigration because there are worse places then our US oligarchy. So, that is why we still have some immigration from South America.
If we get another dicktater like Trump, even immigration may stop.

This will not only have an impact in Mexico; it will set the agenda for the entire Latin American region, said Melissa Ayala, coordinator of litigation for the Mexican feminist organization GIRE. She called the ruling a historic moment for feminists and activists who have pressed for womens rights for years in Mexicos state legislatures, health ministries and law schools.
Four countries in Latin America allow abortion under virtually all circumstances early in pregnancy: Argentina, Cuba, Uruguay and Guyana. Some nations forbid abortion for any reason. In El Salvador, women accused of aborting a fetus can be prosecuted on assault or homicide charges, and face decades in prison.

(34,136 posts)While the Catholic Church never approved of abortion (or birth control for that matter) they never went all out in a political push to outlaw it completely.
I remember when the South Baptists fought against John Kennedy because they didn't want the Pope telling him how to run our country. Somewhere around the time Reagan got in, Catholics and Evangelical Protestants joined forces and have put us where we are.
To HELL with all religions, especially what has been made of "Christianity" by these assholes.
