(CNN)The Biden administration has told 11 officials appointed to military service academy advisory boards by former President Donald Trump to resign or be dismissed, a source familiar with the situation tells CNN's KFile.
The officials asked to resign include prominent former Trump officials like former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, former senior counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway and former national security adviser H.R. McMaster. They were appointed to the advisory boards of the Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and West Point respectively.
Other more prominent names include Heidi Stirrup, the former White House liaison to the Justice Department who was banned from entering the building after she attempted to access sensitive information about possible election fraud in December 2020, and retired Col. Douglas Macgregor, a former ambassador pick and Pentagon official with a history of controversial comments. The duo were appointed to the boards of the Air Force Academy and West Point.
Other appointees who have been asked to resign are Michael Wynne, who was appointed to the board of the Air Force Academy; retired Gen. John Keane, Meaghan Mobbs, and David Urban appointed to the board of West Point; and John Coale and Russell Vought, Trump's former director of the Office of Management and Budget, appointed to the Naval Academy's board.

(13,058 posts)be an effective strategy so I don't know. And yes he has probably committed multiple felonies but as the article indicates, he would have to be convicted of something first which has not happened. Under our legal system he is innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law, and he hasn't even been indicted let alone convicted.

(9,654 posts)For him to be indicted both for purposely slowing the mail and destroying tax payers property (the sorting machines)
Or / in addition to being indicted for making policy that benefits him personally ( that hurt customer service)

(2,114 posts)Sighhh. Since Republicans worship a five-time draft dodging big city casino slickster, it's not surprising that they would finger Spicer for yet another job he's uniquely unqualified for. Toss the bum out.

(10,828 posts)Why would Sean Spicer or Kellyanne be appointed to any military academy beyond gifting loyalists with positions they don't deserve nor for which they are in any way qualified? H.R. McMaster somewhat surprises me. Don't recall that he was a great Trump fan but anyone who accepted a position in Trump's Administration has been tainted. Hard to get that stink off.

(10,828 posts)McMaster's comments fall flat for me bc it's the same 'we could have been successful with more time, more effort in supporting the Afghan troops and the government.'
Hogwash.
You can't succeed in twenty long years that 'right around the corner' mantra is very thin soup.
That being said, McMaster has a long, distinguished military career unlike a lot of Biden's critics. The man is entitled to his opinion however wrong. Can't help feeling there's something else in the mix.
But perhaps that is indeed 'it' the equal blaming of President Biden with Donald Trump with whom the lion's share of accountability rests.
The clashes between civilian authority over military decisions and the top brass are frequently tense. Maybe it's that, too. Remember the brouhaha between Obama and McChrystal? Never pretty.

(35,454 posts)It has become so noticeable that other commentators are questioning his appearances
Here are some examples:
Mr McMaster slammed Mr Blinken and the Biden administration for failing to make the same demands of the Taliban.
I think that this is an astonishing degree of what I call
strategic narcissism you know, the tendency to define the world as we would like it to be and assume that what we do or decide not to do is decisive towards achieving a favourable outcome, he said.

(18,628 posts)I don't believe for a minute that he can contribute anything useful to a military academy.
This was just a cake job where he went in late, read his emails, and went to lunch for the rest of the day, taking days off for dancing and his talk show on NewsMax.
This is the very definition of that swamp the dumbass's supporters' said he was going to drain.
This says all you have to know about Spicer:

(6,522 posts)It's very satisfying to hear. Whenever I think of Spicer, all I can see is the SNL skits with Melissa driving the podium through the press. Darn that was funny.
Kick them all out. And no, McMaster isn't privileged to stick a knife in the President's back. I'm just so surprised that people think a soldier has some sort of right to mean mouth the CiC. If you want to do that, don't be a soldier. Of course, I'm an ex soldier, and I mean mouthed Trump something awful. But, I'm not on a military advisory board, either.
Well, they had something to lose, and they lost it. Trump was some kind of red mafia boss. Biden is a great relief. I think he's going to get them all. Clean house, and weed out those Congress people that helped on Jan. 6th.
