FBI releases new footage of possible RNC, DNC pipe-bomb suspect
Source: Washington Post
The FBI on Wednesday released new video of a person believed to have placed pipe bombs near the Republican and Democratic National Committee headquarters in D.C. the night before the U.S. Capitol riot and revealed that investigators think the suspect is not from the area, as officials made another call for the publics help to solve the case.

(128,925 posts)but it's obvious he was aware of the cams (you often can't miss the fisheyes on some of these buildings), and made sure to obscure his face. The scooter is something "new" as a piece of evidence that I hadn't seen in earlier footage.

(5,770 posts)... it looks significant in the still, but if you watch the video, it is already there when he walks into the frame. In DC the scooters are laying around all over.
In the video, he sits down on the bench and appears to use his smart phone. Unless that's an act, that isn't too smart.

(128,925 posts)he was wandering around at night, so in any urban area, some random scooter sitting out like that, is just unfathomable. This ain't a suburb where kids can randomly leave their bikes out overnight on their front yards.
I found this video from the FBI which is pretty comprehensive showing the suspected routes (and estimated timestamps) and there is an overlap of the route in that area -
The footage I recall seeing months ago was what had been released starting about at the 3:00 mark. But in this entire video, there is a large segment of space/time without any footage added for the distance covered.

(5,770 posts)... it is quite common. Bikes also. In DC they are all over the place. They are rental / ride share scooters and bikes. You pick one up from wherever someone left one, and unlock it with your smartphone. You go wherever you are going, hop off and leave it for someone else to use. They are tracked by GPS and you are charged for the ride through the smartphone app.

As far as the scooter goes, I see them all over Dallas now. These are not kids' toys. They're rentable. When this guy was seated, was he using his cell phone? It seemed he was checking out the screen of his phone. Or was he programming a timer?

(43,149 posts)When he stops facing the camera early on, left leg toes out. Moving across the screen near the end, toeing out. Male.
