Kansas, Missouri attorneys general signal lawsuits likely against Biden vaccine push

Source: McClatchy

WASHINGTON — Republican attorneys general in Kansas and Missouri are setting the stage for lawsuits against President Joe Biden’s vaccination push, all but announcing they will challenge the White House initiative.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said Friday that important health care decisions should be left to individuals. Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said “we must fight back” after Biden rolled out his plan, which would require businesses with more than 100 employees to either ensure their workforces are fully vaccinated or regularly test employees.

“President Biden yesterday scolded ‘this is not about freedom,’ but the rule of law most certainly is,” Schmidt said in a statement. “If the president’s overreaching rhetoric becomes federal action, then rest assured we will vigorously challenge it.”

Both officials are running for higher office — Schmidt for governor and Schmitt for U.S. Senate — and combating the vaccination effort provides both men the opportunity to engage in a consequential showdown with the Democratic president.

There's quite a bit more that you need to know to determine whether or not the federal government can require it of people who don't work for the federal government.

Yet, another move by the right-wing to assert their rights to roll over the rights of others!

Amazing, the first item says that school boards can decide whether to exclude any student who is not vaccinated. Interesting what they did before this Covid vaccine became politicized by their nutty base. Now masks and Covid vaccine bad and school boards do not get to decide....before, do not dare come to school without your vaccinations and school boards will decide.

8. Biden: GOP governors 'cavalier' for resisting vaccine rules

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden called some Republican governors “cavalier” on Friday for resisting his call for far-reaching new federal coronavirus vaccine requirements he hopes will curb the surging delta variant.

Biden visited a public school just a short drive from the White House to make the case for new rules he set out a day earlier that could impact 100 million Americans.

He also pushed back against Republicans, and some union officials, who say he is overreaching his authority. Biden said they were shirking their responsibility to young Americans.

“I am so disappointed that particularly some Republican governors have been so cavalier with the health of these kids, so cavalier with the health of their communities,” Biden said during a visit to Brookland Middle School in northeast D.C. “This isn’t a game”

to work in a disease-free workplace. That TRUMPS the imaginary rights of those who would prefer to remain potential disease vectors, and to threaten our rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".

Vaccine mandates have been settled case law for more than 100 years. I don't see how any court which respects precedents can decide such a case any differently.

I haven't seen any big debate about vaccinations.
People in stores are wearing masks. People have gotten used to it.

Comments on our Nextdoor site are mostly pro vaccinations and masks.

It's the rural areas where Covid is going crazy that are the problem.
