6 More People Connected To The Capitol Riot Plead Guilty

Source: NPR

By VANESSA ROMO

Six more people pleaded guilty on Friday to charges connected to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, including a man who threatened to shoot House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the head.

Cleveland Meredith Jr. missed the pro-Trump rally in Washington, D.C., earlier this year, but stuck around long enough to tell family members that he planned to shoot Pelosi. He pleaded guilty to one count of interstate communication of threats.

According to court papers, Meredith sent a relative a text message saying he wanted to attend an event with Pelosi and put "a bullet in her noggin on Live TV." The relative contacted Meredith's mother, who got in touch with the FBI. Soon after, agents located Meredith in a downtown D.C. hotel, and found a handgun, rifle and 2,500 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

Meredith's sentencing is scheduled for December.

IMHO authorities had best think long and hard about monitoring, deterrence, public safety.

New laws should be passed converting the crimes now classified as misdemeanors for disruptive behavior in the Capitol and on Capitol ground to felonies. And those crimes should carry minimum, no plea deal, sentences of 10 years. Or more depending on the crime.

At least these clowns had the decency to admit how stupidly, fatally, sickeningly violent and unPatriotic their Republican assault on the USA was. Now lock the traitors up.

and the "dozens of weapons" that he had in his hotel room - https://www.reviewjournal.com/crime/shootings/mandalay-bay-staff-interacted-with-las-vegas-shooter-more-than-10-times-in-days-before-oct-1/

Apparently employees helped him haul it all up there in suitcases and may have even seen the weapons in the room the few times they did manage to go in there before he put the "do not disturb" sign up.

That guy fired off some 1,100 rounds as it is (with 4,000 unused rounds still in the room) - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/las-vegas-shooting-stephen-paddock-gunman-fired-over-1100-rounds-sheriff-says/

The irony here is that before I retired, I had a coworker who had been in the Army and then the Army Reserve before retiring from the military, and she would tell me that when she would do their "once a months" and the once a year (I think) 2-week summer training, they were chronically told that there was an "ammunition shortage", and had to curtail some of their firearms exercises. So our own military could barely get what they needed to train yet the yahoos had no problem hoarding up on all kinds of stuff.
