California man with knives, racist symbols arrested in D.C.

Source: Los Angeles Times

U.S. Capitol Police early Monday arrested an Oceanside, Calif., man outside the Washington headquarters of the Democratic National Committee on suspicion of possession of prohibited weapons.

Around midnight, an officer on patrol noticed a black Dodge Dakota pickup truck with a swastika and other white supremacist symbols outside of the DNC headquarters, according to Capitol Police. The truck had a picture of an American flag in place of a license plate.

Officers noticed a bayonet and machete, which are illegal in Washington, D.C., inside the truck and arrested the driver, Donald Craighead, 44, of Oceanside.

According to Capitol Police, Craighead said he was “on patrol” and began talking about “white supremacist ideology and other rhetoric pertaining to white supremacy.”

.... They are "animal bones"...

Photos released by Capitol Police show Craighead’s vehicle had a pentagram on the steering wheel and the word “confederate” scrawled on the dashboard. The truck also contained animal bones and had antlers attached to the front.

so this dude might be scoping it out looking to cause mischief or something.

This time there will be national guard and fencing and a more cooperative law enforcement response than with TFG.

I bet this is why, as his intent can not be to hackdown a large brush pile so it fits in a green waste receptacle.

It's sold with kind of a dull blade, I doubt it would do more than give you an unsightly gash. I didn't know they were illegal anywhere, seems like a common garden tool.

I’ve got a machete, several shotguns and a deer rifle. All useful tools where I live. But I know not to carry them into DC.

Oh, and I don’t have Nazi shit and white supremacy shit on my vehicle.

The grandmother of an Oceanside man arrested near the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C., with a bayonet and a machete described her grandson as "always in trouble," and "heading in the wrong direction his whole life."

U.S Capitol Police arrest 44-year-old Donald Craighead Monday morning. They said officers saw a pickup truck with “a swastika and other white supremacist symbols.” When they approached, Craighead spoke about “white supremacist ideology and other rhetoric pertaining to white supremacy,” police said in a statement.

According to court records, Craighead had criminal cases in San Diego County, mostly in East County, dating back to 2015. They include felony reckless evading of a peace officer and felony second-degree robbery. His criminal record dates back to 1995 in Missoula, Montana, where he's faced charges of forgery and theft, criminal possession of a dangerous drug, and numerous counts of writing bad checks.

Craighead's grandmother, Joanne Craighead, told NBC 7 said her grandson was a handyman at one point and was doing well until his success was derailed by a dirt bike accident.

She said his family tried to help by buying him trucks and tools to get his job as a handyman up and running, but it did not work out.
