New York health care workers were granted some reprieve from the state's COVID-19 vaccine mandate as the judge temporarily paused its enforcement after a group of workers sued, calling the mandate unconstitutional.

A group of 17 health care professionals, including doctors and nurses, sued the state of New York for violating their Constitutional rights by not allowing religious exemptions for the state's vaccine mandate, arguing against it in a lawsuit Monday.

"The same front line health care workers hailed as heroes by the media for treating COVID patients before vaccines were available, including the Plaintiffs herein, are now vilified by the same media as pariahs who must be excluded from society until they are vaccinated against their will," the lawsuit said.

Judge David Hurd in Utica ruled in the group's favor, issuing an order temporarily blocking New York from enforcing its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Page v. Cuomo: On August 11, 2020, Judge David Hurd, of the U.S. District Court for the District of Northern New York, dismissed a lawsuit challenging Governor Andrew Cuomo’s (D) executive order requiring travelers entering New York from states with high COVID-19 infection rates to self-quarantine. Arizona-resident Cynthia Page brought the suit after she was forced to cancel a planned trip to Brooklyn, New York, because she could not fulfill the quarantine requirements. In her complaint, Page argued that the mandatory quarantine violated her Fourteenth Amendment rights to equal protection and due process. Page also argued that the quarantine requirement violated the Privileges and Immunities Clause, which guarantees legal protections related to national citizenship, such as the right to interstate travel. Hurd rejected these arguments: "The state is not drawing a distinction between residents and non-residents but between individuals with and without a mathematically heightened risk of spreading COVID–19." He added that, even if the order "infringed her liberty interest in the right to travel, the COVID–19 pandemic is precisely the scenario for which emergency action would be expected." Page filed a notice of appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.[4][5][6]

7. i really don't understand those people in the medical profession--especially doctors and nurses

(and especially those doctors & nurses who have worked with covid patients) who just fucking refuse to get vaccinated.

months ago my friend got his first shot in a chicago hospital--indoors and seated in a line up of people waiting for their vaccines. the nurse who was moving the line along, having them move up and then go into the area where they were vaccinated -- she wasn't wearing a fucking mask! and i'm sure my friend wasn't the only person freaked out by this because everyone waiting for their shot was masked

do these people not really give a shit about medicine, medical science, and healthcare? do they only have the job because they need the money or it's just a step on the way toward the career they really want (such as playing guitar in a band, or designing shoes, or selling their artwork at a gallery)?
