Federal judge blocks Biden administration from expelling migrant families under public health order

Source: CNN

A federal judge blocked the Biden administration from expelling migrant families with children apprehended at the US-Mexico border under a public health order, according to a Thursday ruling, marking a major defeat for the administration.

In a long-awaited ruling, Judge Emmet Sullivan of the District of Columbia District Court acknowledged that the ruling will force the government to make difficult decisions, but determined that there are enough measures that can be taken to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

"But in view of the wide availability of testing, vaccines, and other minimization measures, the Court is not convinced that the transmission of COVID-19 during border processing cannot be significantly mitigated. Indeed, the government has successfully implemented mitigation measures with regard to processing unaccompanied minors in order to minimize risk of COVID-19 transmission," the 58-page ruling stated.

The order doesn't take effect for 14 days. The Biden administration has relied on the public health order linked to the pandemic to turn away adults and families apprehended at the US southern border. Unaccompanied children remain exempt from the policy.

For example, Pelosi's sense of timing is a wonder to watch. She laid a trap for McCarthy, the minority House leader, by saying she wanted to have a Jan. 6 Commission.
He, of course, wanted to block any effort to look into what the seditious Repubs, including him, had been doing to cause Jan. 6. so he huffed and puffed and refused to go along with it, and Pelosi waited a few days, then said,ok, fine, I'll drop the idea.
He figured he had won.
But she knew a Commission would involve too many Repub. members who would screw up the process for months.

So she then proposed a House Committee. Which she had wanted all along!
Whole new ballgame, fewer members, easier for her to be in control of.
McCarthy decided he would sink the idea by refusing to put any House republicans on it.
Pelosi said fine, more room for more Dems on it.

Biden and Pelosi and Schumer have eons of political experience among them.
Only Yertle is of any equal in those terms.

Everyone knows what is at stake.
We are at one of the most momentous critical periods in our national history.

I am putting all my faith in our elected political team.
How can we possibly do otherwise?
