Nancy Pelosi Says Vote May Be Delayed On $1 Trillion Infrastructure Bill
Source: Yahoo News
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday said she may not bring the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill to the House floor on Monday as previously planned, saying she'd rather wait to ensure it has all of the votes needed after fellow Democrats continued to tie demands to its passage.
"I'll never bring a bill to the floor that doesn't have the votes," she told ABC News "This Week" anchor George Stephanopoulos. "You cannot choose the date, you have to go when you have the votes, in a reasonable time, and we will."
Pelosi said Friday that she planned to bring the bill up for a vote on Monday. Although the speaker may push back the vote, she said Sunday that she still plans for it to happen sometime this week.

That would make sense if the votes are not there. The Monday vote was always just an artificial deadline in any case.
That said, I am sure that the infrastructure bill and the reconciliation bill will both pass once there is agreement among Democrats in Congress about the composition of the reconciliation bill.
It's time for people to stop obstructing President Biden's agenda.

Once everyone removes the meat they don't like.

It's time to get down to the details and get President Biden's "Build Back Better" agenda rolling!

(15,369 posts)Once the reconciliation bill passes the senate, the bipartisan bill will easily pass the house.
All that work Manchin did for the bipartisan bill is nothing compared to the work he will have to do on his own positions in order to pass the reconciliation bill.

(24,304 posts)I'm pointing out that the idea that everyone has to give Manchin and Sienema what they want or nothing goes anywhere is not a one-way street. That the House can hold up legislation as well
This idea that only what Manchin wants is what we have to strive for is not true

(24,304 posts)If they don't, they could see the other bill crash and burn
Manchin publicly acts like it's whatever he wants that matters and he has enablers that parrot that view
So the bottom line is not just what he wants

I am sure all Democrats want a strong reconciliation bill that helps as many Americans as possible.
President Biden himself said its time for ALL SIDES to be clear on what they want in that bill and he is absolutely right.
And to be honest, if we can't also pass a strong reconciliation bill we can forget about 2022 also. We need two good bills and we should have the votes to pass both.
