Trump Loses Case to Enforce Omarosa Manigault Newman's N.D.A.
Source: New York Times
Former President Donald J. Trump has lost an effort to enforce a nondisclosure agreement against Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former White House aide and a star on The Apprentice who wrote a tell-all book about serving in his administration.
The decision in the case, which Mr. Trumps campaign filed in August 2018 with the American Arbitration Association in New York, comes as the former president is enmeshed in a number of investigations and legal cases related to his private company.
Donald has used this type of vexatious litigation to intimidate, harass and bully for years, Ms. Manigault Newman said in a statement. Finally the bully has met his match!
The decision, dated on Friday and handed down on Monday, calls for her to collect legal fees from the Trump campaign.

(3,164 posts)This was pretty much standard operating procedure for him - make everyone who works for him sign an NDA.
However, Omarosa really wasn't a Trump employee. She was a White House aid, so she worked for the US government, not for Trump. I never understood this anyway. His NDAs with people like her should have never been signed and certainly weren't enforceable.
Is this just another case of Trump not following tradition? I'm sure there's no explicit law against NDAs, but there should be!

(42,676 posts)and NDAs are not in the Constitution so they should be illegal! At least by right wing logic

Her first book was OK, but you could tell she was holding back on the details. I'm sure she can fill a book just about the racist/sexist crap he pulled around her, both on the Apprentice shows and in the White House.

(1,666 posts)Is it like a prenup, where if you dont want a judge to have the ability to throw it out, you gotta pay for your soon to be spouses own lawyer separate from your own a year in advance so there is no possible way under the sun a judge can throw it out due to being scared into signing it?
