Congress passes bill to avert shutdown ahead of midnight deadline
Source: CNN
(CNN)The House passed a stopgap funding bill on Thursday to avert a shutdown by extending government funding through December 3.
The bill passed the Senate earlier in the day with a bipartisan vote, and the measure must now be signed into law by President Joe Biden, which he is expected to do.
Government funding is set to expire at midnight, but Democratic congressional leaders, who control both chambers of Congress, have projected confidence there will not be a shutdown.

House just passed this so President Biden just needs to sign and done - EXCEPT they need to get over the debt ceiling hump now.

(7,392 posts)Dates back to isolationist Republicans wanting to prevent President Wilson from starting another war after WWI ended. It probably contributed to our lack of preparedness for WWII.

(7,392 posts)Voted for this spending measure but refuse to vote to increase the debt ceiling that is necessary in order to pay the invoices for what they just authorized to spend. But that is an example of Republican logic. It makes no sense.

(127,313 posts)although KY was impacted by Hurricane Ida - https://www.wymt.com/2021/08/30/rainfall-hurricane-ida-are-beginning-flood-parts-eastern-kentucky/
And that C.R. also continued funding for earlier disasters including one declared in KY back in late winter/early spring of this year - https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/04/23/president-joseph-r-biden-jr-approves-kentucky-disaster-declaration-2/
That was Turtle's "pork" that he could get and eat it too.
I'm actually surprised that Cornyn voted for it although obviously TX has literally gone through a year-long disaster - from winter to fall (not including the political disasters).
