Exclusive: Company says it will put Trump back online
Source: Axios
RightForge, an internet infrastructure company that courts conservatives, will host former President Trump's new social media platform, CEO Martín Avila told Axios on Monday.
Why it matters: By relying on a web hosting service that won't cut ties over controversial comments, Trump's new platform could avoid the problems conservative network Parler faced when Amazon pulled its web services following the Capitol insurrection.
Yes, but: Representatives affiliated with the Trump network declined to comment on whether RightForge is their provider, and Trump's business deals are notoriously messy and full of reversals.
...
Avila said RightForge spent 2021 building a global network in response to the de-platforming of Trump and Parler, and the Trump team approached the company over the summer.
"If you believe that the president should be de-platformed, we believe that you're not really interested in living in a free country," Avila told Axios. "And that's really what we're all about is making sure that America stays true to its core ideas, and that the marketplace of ideas stays open."

This is the best thing that could happen to us IMO. Trump is his own worst enemy, and the more he's out there, the more people will remember that they hate him.

(92,204 posts)And I can't see many liberals or sane people using it. Conservatives exist online for one and only one reason: to argue with and/or otherwise "own the libs." If there are no liberals around, they will inevitably turn on each other. That site will quickly devolve into a cesspool of hate, name-calling, and other vitriol.
Do y'all troll right wing sites to start fights? I can't think of anything I would hate more. Yet, the conservatives love to get into arguments and fights with the libtards.

(32,639 posts)Of course he can't call them donations, because he can't admit that he lost in 2020...
How does he start a new campaign when the old one is still (presumably) running?
However he IS going to grift nine ways from Sunday, and he needs a platform to do that. That's why Facebook and Twitter were so valuable to him, and now he's starting all over again. The question is whether the ChumpHumpers are stupid enough to keep giving him money.

(5,443 posts)Trump is a propagandist-- he is also addicted to adulation. He needs social media to project power and satisfy his ego. Imagine the lies and gaslighting that will be emitted with no pushback. We live in an era of misinformation, and Trump is a potential aggravator of the situation.

(5,586 posts)but us saying that doesn't make it so, especially in the eyes of the law. The fact that they're charging nearly everyone that assaulted the Capital with misdemeanors indicates they don't see it as a terrorist incident.
They'll likely treat it the same as they treat 4chan, twitter, facebook and other social media sights.

(5,586 posts)The only person to get a higher vote total was Joe Biden. Trump got 12m MORE votes in 2020 than he did in 2016. Everything was against Trump in 2020, the pandemic couldn't have come at a worse time for his re-election. The economy dipped with the pandemic.
Despite the 85 million votes Joe got, we didn't get overwhelming majorities in the legislature, which is inhibiting Biden's agenda. In 2008, Barack Obama got 15m fewer votes than Joe Biden, and we had a filibuster proof majority of both houses.
Underestimate Trump and the Republican party at your own peril. If inflation is anywhere near 6%, which is where it is now, in 2022 and 2024, the prepare for a Democratic wipeout.
