A GOP official who challenged former President Trump's unsupported election claims is expected to get a top position within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), according to multiple reports.

Kim Wyman, the secretary of state for Washington state, will reportedly lead election security at DHS's Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA), people familiar with the effort told The Associated Press.

News of Wyman's appointment was first reported by CNN. According to the outlet, Wyman would be the point person for state and local officials to protect election infrastructure and voters from misinformation.

CISA declined to comment on the report to The Hill.

1. I'm a bit bummed out if his is true

It's been really good here in Washington to have a Republican Secretary of State who does her job and isn't giving in to the Trump crazies. Being able to remind folks of her party affiliation is a great counter to paranoia and mistrust.

Though... I'm sure she gets dismissed as a RINO by the Trumpers
