Millions of Undocumented Immigrants Could Be Given Path to Work Under Biden's New Bill

Source: Newsweek

Democrats added a new provision to President Joe Biden's $1.75 trillion social safety net plan that could open a path to legal work for the roughly 7 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

Under the new policy, undocumented immigrants would receive permission to apply for work and travel permits for five years, the Associated Press reported. The rule would also allow the federal government to admit additional people into the country through unused work visas.

The Senate parliamentarian ruled twice already that Democrats could not put immigration measures into the bill that would be passed through the reconciliation process. But with pressure over the Biden administration's handling of the border mounting, many Democrats feel reforms are needed.

"We have to have something for our immigrants," said Representative Judy Chu, a California Democrat and a member of the Progressive Caucus, according to the AP.

impact on a HEALTHY(?) "infrastructure" for so many of our chained processes and now apparent in what's termed the Great Resignation, we need to be able to find and count those "running scared" immigrants that skipped the asylum processes. Many might need some training and education, help with routine health concerns, and kid-care to make use of those work permits as well. Those safety nets would have even helped me, a citizen! A very easy and affordable path to citizenship then should be the next step, if it shouldn't have been the first, that supports that legal permission to work, not be a covert, thwarting take-back of American "melting pot" effort that takes back in fees what we invite into the process of becoming a part of our message of democracy to new American citizens.

Have all those separated kids been located and reunited with families, an heinous act to be sure, revealed under TFG's orders and admin and fulfilled by ethic- and moral-free shameful employees of various other agencies throughout the country?
