The first police officer on the scene of Ahmaud Arbery's killing testified Monday that one of the three white men on trial on charges of murder and other crimes never told him they were trying to make a citizen's arrest of Arbery, testimony that appeared to undercut a key element of the defense case.

Ricky Minshew, who was a Glynn County, Georgia, police patrol officer when Arbery was killed Feb. 23, 2020, testified that when he arrived on the scene, he spoke with William "Roddie" Bryan, who told Minshew that he "blocked," "cornered" and "cut off" Arbery in Satilla Shores, a neighborhood just outside the port city of Brunswick.

Bryan's neighbors Gregory McMichael and Travis McMichael, his son, who are also standing trial, armed themselves and used Travis' pickup truck to pursue Arbery after they spotted him running in their neighborhood. Bryan joined the chase and recorded cellphone video of Travis McMichael shooting Arbery in the street three times at close range. The three men were charged months later after the video leaked online. The video sparked national outrage; Arbery's killing has been likened to a modern-day lynching.

Asked by prosecutor Larissa Ollivierre whether Bryan ever told him he was trying to make a citizen's arrest of Arbery, as defense attorneys have claimed, Minshew responded, "No, ma'am."

These men had bad intentions to begin with. This jogger had no backpack, no hammer or any tools to commit a robbery. Just an innocent man who jogged all the time. I’m pleased that so far, the prosecutor has kept race out of the trial so there’s no circus..just the facts..and of course, the video.

The property owner stated he has numerous video of WHITE people trespassing on his construction site, which he claims he didn't mind people being curious, if they're just looky-loos. No murderous vigilantes attacked any of them.

"“It was kind of unsettling to have somebody coming on your property in the middle of the night,” English told the AJC. The videos show no evidence of theft and English told police nothing was ever taken from the property."

Plus the attorney put out a statement that the man in the video who looked like Arbery may have stopped there to get a drink:

"In a Dec. 17 video, the young man, wearing shorts and an athletic shirt, exits the garage area, walks slowly for a second or two, and then heads down the driveway across a patch of yard, before entering Satilla Drive at a jogger’s pace.

On Friday morning, English’s attorney Elizabeth Graddy issued a statement citing the AJC story on the videos that posted Thursday night. She said the family had reviewed the videos more closely.

Her statement speculated the young man may have been entering the property for water. She said there were two water faucets on the property – one at the rear of the house and one on the side."

If you are going to rip off a construction site, wouldn't you need a truck or vehicle. All Ahmaud Arbery had was a pair of jogging shorts. What was he stealing, a couple of electrical outlets? They run around $1.85.

You must announce to the person that you are placing them under citizens arrest. The problem is they had no standing by owning or being a agent of the property to place someone under citizens arrest. The only thing their attorney(s) can do is to try for a self defense case, but you don't bring a shotgun to a stand off. I think they will be going to prison. In My 'not an attorney' Humble Opinion.
