I can tell you that a purple heart and $1.95 at Starbucks will get you a cup of coffee. YMMV,

... no matter your income, that Purple Heart will earn you V.A. health benefits for life. And some of the worst burnt free coffee you will ever experience at the V.A. (though I think Starbucks coffee is worse)

It is not "nothing", it can be a big deal. And, for those with strange concussive brain injury, it can be the "trinket" that makes life bearable and affordable.

Bernie Sanders got way more donations from active duty military than Trump

GOP promotes that lie because active duty are not allowed to make political statements publicly. There were a lot of retired generals at the conventions endorsing Biden, Hillary, and Obama. We have veterans holding political office as Dems.

Republicans shame themselves. As ever.

The VFW expects an apology from the president to our service men and women for his misguided remarks. And, we ask that he and the White House join with us in our efforts to educate Americans of the dangers TBI has on these heroes as they protect our great nation in these trying times. Our warriors require our full support more than ever in this challenging environment.” — William “Doc” Schmitz, VFW National Commander
