Gov. DeSantis seeks to reinstate Florida State Guard

Source: ABC

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday he's recommending $3.5 million be used to re-establish the Florida State Guard.

DeSantis spoke from the National Guard Armory in Pensacola with Major General James O. Eifert, the Adjutant General of Florida.

"We also want to make sure we have the flexibility and the ability needed to respond to events in our state in the most effective way possible and some of that will require us to be able to have access, and be able to use support in ways that are not encumbered by the federal government or don't require federal government," DeSantis said. "So, I'm going to be recommending in the budget $3.5 million to re-establish the Florida State Guard."

DeSantis said the state guard would act as a civilian volunteer force that can assist the National Guard in state-specific emergencies. He said the money would support training and equipment for up to 200 members.

Most likely made up of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys who will now be paid by taxpayers to commit domestic terrorism. Is it legal for a state to have its own military?

or the laws in place for them. Florida falls into this category, they already have the laws in place, they just had no funding allocated and have no active units. I don't know of any that are armed though. All seem to be used for disaster relief type stuff.

This is what dictatorships do, they build their own militia, that bring chaos, corruption, killings, robberies, kidnappings, they terrorize citizens.

Venezuela, with Chavez created what they call "Colectivos", which is the same thing DeSantis wants to do.

Here you can read about it:

[link:https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2019/5/9/venezuela-who-are-the-colectivos|

Scary stuff...of course that these kind of militia always ends up badly for even them, at the end they start shooting each other, but it only happens years after they have committed horrendous crimes.

They do get hit by massive hurricanes on occasion, and having 200 people armed with heavy equipment like dump trucks and front-end loaders would come in REAL handy at those times. He already has the National Guard if he decides to start shooting liberals.

guys who want the prestige of military service without, you know, going to foreign lands and getting shot at.

And oh yes...who like elaborate ceremonial messes.

"Many good men fell in that engagement!" "Yeah, under the table."

Seriously, their job has long been taken over by state police forces. Like Space Force, they're a military organization in search of a mission.

as a young NC National Guard Infantry Company Commander I had a bunch,5-6, bubbas or Yahoos take your pick show up at my armory expecting they would be allowed access to all our stuff....WRONG!!!! I gave them nothing, no access to our arms room, supply room or our Motor Pool. They sat around smoking and drinking our coffee. I did let them drink coffee and use or latrines,. When they finally figured out that I was going to train them or give them access to my stuff they gave up and left. The next month the showed up and tried again to us my stuff and our armory....No luck for round two. Then they stopped showing up.

The worship of the military, National Guard included, is disturbing to those outside your country.

But this will get him votes. For that reason alone. And I dare any Democrat to speak against it.

Nobody denies the MIC. Nobody.
