Giant Christmas tree outside Fox News headquarters set afire
Source: Associated Press
NEW YORK (AP) A man was charged with arson and other crimes Wednesday for setting fire to a 50-foot (15-meter) Christmas tree in front of Fox News headquarters in midtown Manhattan, police said.
The artificial tree outside of the News Corp. building that houses Fox News, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post caught fire shortly after midnight, police said.
This is the Fox Square in New York, outside of Fox headquarters, Bream said. It appears that our giant Christmas tree there, just a couple of minutes ago, was completely engulfed in flames.
A 49-year-old man who police said was homeless was arrested on charges including criminal mischief, arson and trespassing. It wasnt clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.

(17,042 posts)You want to talk about lunatics, just look at the rwnj who attacked the U.S. Capitol, killed cops and wanted to hang the V.P. That wasn't hijinks, you stupid woman and your revered Dad is spinning in his grave.
it is hardly a fair comparison. One homeless guy vs 5000 agitated and aggressive seditionists storming the U.S. capitol, many armed, killing and injuring gov't police, and trashing an entire building......compared to one tree?
A true comparison would honestly be a thousand people storming Fox during a workday, Vandalizing the entire building and taking part in destroying the five top executives.............
The best line in your commentary was your last one............She has done irreparable harm to her father's legacy....
Once again, an old adage comes to mind. Probably Mark Twain or Abraham Lincoln?
It is better to be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.
The Republican Party seems to be overflowing with jerk wads who should think about that statement.......
However, the truth is simply that many of them are too ignorant and stupid to understand what that statement means.....
LOL MAYBE THEY REALLY ARE aliens from a different planet, walking around disguised as humans, and it is just a inter-galactic game to them to see who can destroy planet earth........

(17,042 posts)The comparisons just don't equate. Mst of r's arguments wouldn't get used on a high school debate team. I don't want to see violence escalate. I hope it turns out that the homeless man was trying to stay warm and started a Sterno fire in the wrong place.
I wondered the other day if someone started a rumor that the Covid vaccination makes humans taste bad to aliens, if some of the dolts would get the shots.

(8,847 posts)We were arguing the Electoral College issue when we were in Jr. High Debate class.
Also, abortion, religion in the schools, etc etc etc
It the old: What's old is new again, over and over and over.
Now, they have added vaccinations to their old: GAYS - GUNS- GOD tripe........

He had a lighter in his possession. OMG!!! No one else, within 1000 miles had a lighter in their possession.
I am sure that the lighter will be subject to civil asset forfeiture.
I hope that they have more than just the lighter as their evidence.

(28,276 posts)trump and his brain-dead hordes are goose-stepping their way back to the White House---and kicking what's left of our democracy into a ditch---because they have absolutely no fear of us. We are in fact better than they are---but we still need to fight them.

(36,146 posts)We're the ones trying to build back better, not destroy.
This is not about them. This is about who we are.
Making this about them, and tit for tat behavior empowers their win-lose outlook on all things.
We are about win-win. And they know that.
They're so guilt ridden they look for any flimsy excuse to point the finger hysterically.
I'm angry with you, but I refuse to be in a party that justifies tit-for-tat violence.

(30,817 posts)First, it's a bad thing to do to destroy someone's property and just generally spread misery.
Also, it represented the joy of the season. Do we really have so much joy that we can afford to render any of it to ashes?

(3,538 posts)Why would an artificial tree be so flammable? That doesnt make sense. Whatever material that decoration was constructed out of should have been 100% non-flammable

(714 posts)They can be made out of non-combustible material. But apparently it's not a law that all artificial trees have to be made out of those materials.
