Election officials rebut claims in Republican-led Arizona review of Trump's 2020 loss

(Reuters) - Election officials in Arizona's most populous county found nearly every conclusion in a partisan "audit" of Donald Trump's loss in the 2020 presidential election to be misleading or false, according to an official rebuttal released on Wednesday.

The Maricopa County Elections Department's 93-page report is an attempt to address dozens of claims made by Trump's allies in the Republican Party in their so-called "full forensic audit" aimed at casting doubt on his defeat in the battleground state.

While last year's Republican-led review had already been widely discredited by election experts as biased and procedurally flawed, the report, titled "Correcting The Record," marked the first detailed response by county officials.

"We determined that nearly every finding included faulty analysis, inaccurate claims, misleading conclusions and a lack of understanding of federal and state election laws," the report says of the audit, which Arizona Republican senators contracted out to a private company called Cyber Ninjas.

3. The results of the GOP lead "fraudit" were a foregone conclusion

that is to say they were a pack of lies and false conclusions built on a patently false statement from the beginning.

The entire enterprise was political propaganda intended to undermine public confidence in the election process and allow that doubt to become accepted as if it were indeed fact. The Republican Leader of the AZ State Senate who began this enormous PSYOP and her cohorts knew it was false and materially insupportable from the beginning. Which begs the question of just how illegal it was for them to initiate and continue it for all those many months. They were not only lying to Arizona voters, public officials and the press, but also to the AZ legislature in accusing those who work in the state election process or provide services to them of participating in major fraud.

4. It was a fraudit, no need for quotes... the quotes belong around "results"

Can't have results when you're not using an official voter registration list.

Nothing that came out of the fraudit should be taken seriously. They didn't know what they were doing.

The head of the AZ State Senate knew it and so did the brilliant GOP minds advising her. The whole thing was a propaganda event which was never going to be proven in court

This is exactly my point. The entire exercise was based on manufacturing results by any means available and without regard to any standard of legal evidence or correct practices of election procedures.

5. the fraudit should never have been allowed to happen.

Turning over official documents and equipment to clearly partisan operatives, without oversight from objective parties is so obviously corrupt, it should never have happened.

7. It seems the Governor and the AG did not do their duty in defending the election workers,

the voting process, the citizens of Arizona, and the security of the ballots which are the evidence of that vote. Both of them have a duty in law so to act and they did not.
