On one hand, I think it's sad they're leaving just when the nation desperately needs them. On the other hand, if I were them, I wouldn't want to work in the same organization as all those fucking asshole repuqs either.

McNerney's record of service in California 11, and changing district demographics, have made this seat more accommodating to Democrats. Otherwise, I'm apprehensive that it might flip back again to the dark side.

I'm sure the RI district is probably solidly D (meaning D+10 or better), but what about McNerney's? ~D+9 is winnable for the Repukes in a solid wave year and I'd hate to see winnable districts go to Rs because the Democrat that held them decided to retire (open seats are easier to win).

I figured the RI was a lot higher than that. Jesus...the RI district could be in serious trouble and the CA district could be in play as well.

I don't make those statements to be all doom and gloom. But based on history, the President's party loses seats in the midterms, and unless things turn around sometime between now and then, it could be anything from the Repukes gain just enough to win the House, or have a huge wave year.

There are some possibilities that could change the dynamics between now and then, though: 1)The SCOTUS obliterates Roe v Wade or even severely weakens it, pissing off most women in the country, 2) the J6 Committee releases some hugely damaging findings that "independent" voters can't ignore and bigger fish start getting reeled in (like McQarthy, et al), 3) the DOJ starts arresting and trying bigger fish that were involved in J6 (and plea bargains ensue for testimony), 4) the economic news changes, 5) unknown unknowns...
