Supreme Court’s Gorsuch refused to wear mask despite request over Sotomayor’s Covid concerns, report says

Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch has refused to wear a mask during proceedings, despite a request from Chief Justice John Roberts to do so, according to a report.
Gorsuch’s continued defiance has led Justice Sonia Sotomayor — who has diabetes and is therefore at a higher risk of serious illness from Covid — to attend oral arguments remotely, the report said.
Roberts “in some form” asked the justices to wear masks, NPR reported. Gorsuch, a nominee of former President Donald Trump, was reportedly the only one to refuse.

Personally, I feel like we’re entitled to expect our Supreme Court justices to be better role models. Or, at least, to have an ounce of decency. Putting on a mask would have cost Gorsuch nothing, but then he didn’t care about risk to front line workers, either.

There's no mechanism by which anyone could force a Supreme Court justice to miss hearings.

The best the Chief Justice can do is strongly urge justices to wear masks. Or to volunteer to meet remotely if they feel that's necessary.

It's one of the shortcomings which comes from writing your Constitution before microscopic organisms which cause diseases were discovered.

is now a powerful judicial/political court of the RW. Supporting the American institution's of racism, sexism, and the supremacy of the white race specifically. Something akin to the preWW2 post1933 installation of Hitler and the courts he created to deal with opponents of his fascism.
