Romney Campaign Staged Donations In Storm Relief Event

Source: Think Progress

As the East Coast and parts of Ohio struggled to regroup in the devastating wake of “Superstorm” Sandy, the Romney campaign hastily transformed a scheduled victory rally in Dayton, Ohio into a non-political “storm relief event” on Tuesday. According to BuzzFeed, the campaign encouraged supporters to bring hurricane relief supplies and “deliver the bags of canned goods, packages of diapers, and cases of water bottles to the candidate, who would be perched behind a table along with a slew of volunteers and his Ohio right-hand man, Senator Rob Portman.”

Just to be safe, campaign aides reportedly spent $5,000 to a local Wal-Mart on supplies that could be put on display. When supporters arrived at the rally-turned-relief event, they were treated to the 10-minute video about Romney’s life, which was first unveiled at the RNC. The event ended with supporters lined up to hand over supplies and meet Romney. But according to BuzzFeed, this donation process was also staged:

Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, “What if we dropped off our donations up front?”

The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. “Just grab something,” he said.

Why they hell isn't this the top story on every news channel??

And figures those a-holes would buy their Potemkin pork and beans at a Walmart instead of a mom and pop (aka one of those "small businesses" Mittens claims to love so much.)

...America KNOWS what this pathological liar is all about. Yet a little less than half care not for their country, which has provided them the foundation, and means towards upward mobility, not to mention succour and security. They reject their own, forgetting the thousands upon thousands who have given, and are now giving, their lives, for all of us. Now identifying themselves with lies, hatred, and deceit. 55% for truth, justice, and the American way...45% for lies, injustice, and the "Hooray for us, and screw everybody else 'cause we've got ours" way. History has proven, is proving, and will always prove, time and time again, who's on the correct side of it. May posterity never forget they were once our brothers and sisters, and that while holding themselves up as "Holy Patriots", they condemned us as "The Enemy". May their tainted souls never have peace.

He will push any lie, take any position, pander to anyone he has to in order to win. And make no mistake, winning is all he cares about. Do the people who vote for this assclown think he'll go from shameless liar to the most honest man on Earth come Inauguration Day?!?

Edit: verb tense. Oops!

And saved on shipping cost.

So the Romney campaign loaded a truck at walmart, unloaded at the rally, and then reloaded the truck again? And then ships it over a whole state away. But there are plenty of walmarts and other stores a lot closer.

Also, I would put "victory" in quotes, if I was writing the article.

This staged event seems to be at UD Arena in Dayton. The last time I was at UD Arena was for the Caravan Of Hope where those in need last summer could get some food and other items their families need.
If Romney wanted to donate, there are many many food pantries in Dayton which need the food but then he would not have been able to look as if he cared about Hurricane Sandy. What a hypocrite. Bet he packed up the food and took it with him.
