Woman spits on Jewish boy, shouts antisemitic comments at children outside synagogue, police say

New York City authorities are investigating an antisemitic attack involving a woman who spat on an 8-year-old Jewish boy outside a Brooklyn synagogue last week and allegedly told him and his young siblings that they should have been killed in the Holocaust.
The incident outside the Kehal Tiferet Avrohom Ziditshov Orthodox synagogue unfolded Friday after 12:30 p.m. Surveillance video released by the New York Police Department shows a woman dressed in an orange hoodie, black leggings and black Uggs marching up to a group of children in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn. When she got in front of the children - ages 2, 7 and 8 - she began to shout "anti-Jewish statements" at them, authorities said.
"Hitler should have killed you all," she said, according to police. "I'll kill you and know where you live." She then spit in the face of the 8-year-old boy and fled on foot, an NYPD spokesperson told The Washington Post on Thursday.
The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is now investigating the incident and searching for the woman, who has yet to be publicly identified. Police described the White woman as being in her 20s, standing 5-foot-3, weighing 140 pounds and having long black straight hair. She could face aggravated harassment charges stemming from the incident.

Aryah Fried, the father of the three children, told CBS New York that his kids remained rattled after the woman, whom they had not seen before, approached them while they were playing outside the synagogue.
"I would hope that she understands the severity of what she did," Fried said. "To do it to anybody is obviously problematic, but for an adult to do it to a child is just beyond crazy."

Religion is indexical--few people that "act" and "believe" "Jewish" aren't Jews. Yeah, lots of scare quotes, each deserved.
I've had a professor be a dick because he thought I was Jewish. He was explicit--he had to teach on *his* day of rest (Friday), why should he tolerate a Zionist and cut him *any* slack? Miss his final, you fail. (He only knew I objected to taking my final Saturday morning. That meant "Zionist", that meant "Jew."
The college administration slapped him down hard, because *they* thought this Torah-observant Irish-American was Jewish ... a college in north Jersey ... with a lot of Jewish alumni. The provost also had a stereotypically Jewish surname. I'm sure the slap-down went over well, esp. since the professor called to abjectly apologize.
I've had fundie Muslims treat me like canine anal ejecta because of my practices and denial of being a Muslim. "Non-Muslim person who doesn't eat pork" = "Jew". I wasn't insulted (etc.) because I was a Torah-observant Irish-American Xian. I was insulted because the strong assumption was I was a Jew. And all Jews are hateful Zionists. Apparently.
