Oath Keepers leader Elmer Stewart Rhodes pleads not guilty to seditious conspiracy in Capitol riot i

Source: Business Insider

Full Headline: Oath Keepers leader Elmer Stewart Rhodes pleads not guilty to seditious conspiracy in Capitol riot investigation

The leader of the far-right Oath Keepers group pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to seditious conspiracy connected to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

Elmer Stewart Rhodes is one of 11 defendants who were charged with seditious conspiracy earlier this month for their roles in the failed insurrection.

Tuesday's status conference related to three separate cases involving the Oath Keepers: an original indictment which charged nine defendants with conspiracy to interfere with Congress' activities; the seditious conspiracy indictment against 11 defendants including Rhodes; and a separate indictment against Oath Keepers member Jonathan Walden, who was charged with obstructing Congress and illegally being at the Capitol.

Prosecutors on Tuesday formally dismissed the original conspiracy indictment.

Roger Stone was released on bail, and the judge didn't allow him any TV, twitter or public interviews of any kind. Elmer should get the same treatment. The guy is going to prison eventually, but he still gets a fair trial first.

you would think that the communications that they thought were encrypted that the FBI was able to decode would easily prove a conspiracy.

The original charge was for 18 USC 371, which is conspiracy.

They would have had to dismiss that charge to use the more severe 18 USC 2384 Seditious Conspiracy charge.

sort of seems obvious, and I would like to know the answer too.

I firmly believe he is very dangerous, and remains a great danger to society.

Broken Clock strikes accurately twice in a day.

I'm curious why did it take so long to arrest him? What was the Prosecutors response?

It's time to put this boy out to pasture. Or, maybe send his ass to the glue factory and he can live up to his namesake, doing some good. If they do that, I just hope they don't turn him into the paste, if you know what I mean! 😂
