Former chief of staff Marc Short joins several senior Republicans to defend the former vice-president in escalating feud with Trump
By Richard Luscombe
Mike Pences former chief of staff Marc Short joined several senior Republicans in rallying to defend the former vice-president on Sunday in his escalating feud with Donald Trump over the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election.
Some of Trumps advisers on the 2020 election were like snake oil salesmen, Short said on Sunday.
Pence angered the former president this week by rejecting Trumps false claim that he had the power to overturn Joe Bidens victory by refusing to accept results from seven contested states.
At a conference hosted by the conservative Federalist Society in Florida on Friday, Pence delivered his strongest rebuke to date of Trumps election lies, declaring that it was un-American to believe that any one person had the right to choose the president.

Only 13 months after the attempted coup Pence is now saying that "it" was a bad thing?

As the Christian he claims to be he should have resigned years ago. I walk away when I see Religion abused.

(2,256 posts)I heard one Republican on a Sunday news shows call Pence an 'honorable man'...if Pence was 'honorable' he'd have resigned the Vice Presidency a few months after taking the oath in Jan 2017. Had he made the statement immediately after declaring Biden the winner, it would have carried some honorable mention.
At this point, it's just an insult to truly honorable men and women.

We know they cruelly separated thousands of young children, toddlers even, from their parents, like Nazis did, and threw them in cages, to sleep on cold concrete floors.
Horribly.

It's the entire beast.

(13,607 posts)He's trying to make it sound like trump was a "victim of bad advisors" who were "snake oil salesmen." The fact is that trump himself is a snake oil salesman who methodically surrounded himself with others who wanted a share of his racket and get paid big (taxpayer) money while they were at it.

(11,816 posts)...and let's not forget how long it took Pence to do the obvious. Just the fact he called Dan Quayle and asked him about the legalities tells me he at least gave it some serious thought. So, yea, fuck that guy too.

(30,754 posts)and have been vice presidents. They almost certainly know each other. Both are rather dull-witted horseshit lawyers. I can understand them being acquaintances. I can understand Pence trusting Quayle's judgement. I don't like either of them, but the connection makes sense.
