Hackers Just Leaked the Names of 92,000 'Freedom Convoy' Donors

Source: Vice News

The Christian crowdfunding site that helped raise $8.7 million for the anti-vax “freedom convoy” in Canada was hacked on Sunday night, and the names and personal details of over 92,000 donors were leaked online.

The database of 92,845 donors is no longer available on the site, but VICE News was able to review a copy of the data.

While some of the donors did not provide their names—such as the person behind the current top donation of $215,000—the vast majority did provide them, including American software billionaire Thomas Siebel, who donated $90,000 to the “freedom convoy.”

While GiveSendGo does allow donors to make their donations public, many chose to use their company’s name or omit their names entirely, so the leaked database contains a lot of information that was never meant to be shared, data like donors’ full names, email addresses, and location.

snip-"Analysis of the leaked data by extremism researcher Amarnath Amarasingam shows that while the majority of donors come from the U.S. (56%) and Canada (29%), there are also thousands of donations from overseas, including the U.K., Australia, and Ireland."

snip-"One donor who submitted from a Department of Justice email address appears to have donated $25 on two separate occasions. VICE News was unable to verify that the named person sent the donations, but the name provided matches a current employee of the DOJ, based on their LinkedIn profile.

After submitting a second donation, the person claiming to be a DOJ employee wrote:

“Thank you, Truckers! It is working. Others have taken your lead like Australia, New Zealand, UK. I think the reason all these blue states in the USA have stopped the mask mandates is there were rumors that truckers here in the USA were going to start a protest starting in CA to DC, and the local and federal governments did not want that. And it is an election year.”

does a guy that smart not see through a dimwit like Sarah Palin?

If you read his bio, he's incredibly talented, smart, and generous. Not even bad looking.

However, as I have found with many super-intelligent people, there can be a skewing of their intelligence that is baffling. Even a touch of mental illness in some shape, form, or another, but it messes up their world view.

I wonder if he is one of those.

His "smart" comes from making money as an Oracle executive and then spinning off his own company which he sold back to Oracle. His claim to fame at Oracle was as a star salesman, not as a tech guy. Even then, his selling back to his arch-nemesis was a sign he had blown it as they had almost driven Siebel into the ground as he really had no business acumen. He is a living example of Dunning-Kruger.

As for being a GQP dimwit - he also has long been a Republican donor. He even had Marc Racicot on the Siebel board of directors.

That is up to Canadians, yes.

But it is time for USA to help neighbor by designating the criminal occupiers a terrorist organization:

18 U.S. Code § 2339B
(a) Prohibited Activities.—
(1) Unlawful conduct.—
Whoever knowingly provides material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization, or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both, and, if the death of any person results, shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life. To violate this paragraph, a person must have knowledge that the organization is a designated terrorist organization (as defined in subsection (g)(6)), that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorist activity (as defined in section 212(a)(3)(B) of the Immigration and Nationality Act), or that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorism (as defined in section 140(d)(2) of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1988 and 1989).

Links to it were on Twitter. I looked at it a little bit on my phone (I was in bed reading on the phone) & it was hard to see much of it, I'll take a look on the desktop today. I did notice someone donated in the name of Joe Biden.

I was more involved in tracking the movement of a bunch of US military aircraft. We had a lot of assets in the air last night, & I could only see the ones that wanted to be seen (had ADS-B transponders on). Based on the number of KC-135 tankers (for refuelling) that were up over/around Europe & the patterns they flew I'd say there were certainly more aircraft up that weren't announcing their presence (transponders off).
