Top CNN exec resigns as WarnerMedia chief accuses her and former network boss Zucker

In a memo to staffers Tuesday evening, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar said Gollust resigned after an investigation "into issues associated with" former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and his brother Andrew, the former New York governor.
"Based on interviews of more than 40 individuals and a review of over 100,000 texts and emails, the investigation found violations of Company policies, including CNN's News Standards and Practices, by Jeff Zucker, Allison Gollust, and Chris Cuomo," Kilar said in the memo.
"We have the highest standards of journalistic integrity at CNN, and those rules must apply to everyone equally," Kilar added. "Given the information provided to me in the investigation, I strongly believe we have taken the right actions and the right decisions have been made."

(7,206 posts)I'm not too sure I'd brag about journalistic integrity at CNN. Maybe at one time, now CNN seems as if they're trying to be Fox-lite.

(1,773 posts)CNN has almost been completely eviscerated by these recent scandals. My biggest fear is that someone will take over CNN and try to emulate Fux News' sleazy approach of appealing to the least common denominator.
News agencies placing ratings and clicks over truth and accuracy is part of the reason why we have such an ill-informed populace. We don't need more misinformation. What we need is honest and fair reportage.

(1,773 posts)That said, to his credit, when CNN was at its height as the most respected and watched cable news network in the world, he did little to interfere with its day-to-day operations. He let the industry professionals he hired handle things, and they did a great job. Yes, they were bland, white bread, and formulaic....but they were the gold standard of cable news and trusted enough by most Americans to be their go-to news network during any international or national crisis.

(1,000 posts)He was the executive that greenlighted "The Apprentice" and turned a Queens goon into a reality TV celebrity. And when Zucker fell, instead of thanking him for all he had done for him, the goon issued his "what have you done for me lately" one finger salute.
