Police arrest 'Freedom Convoy' organizers in Ottawa

Police in the Canadian capital city of Ottawa began arresting demonstrators of the "Freedom Convoy" protests on Thursday night, according to The Washington Post.

The police move came after warnings earlier in the day to end the protests against vaccine requirements and other COVID-19 mitigation measures, which have disrupted the city for weeks, the Post reports.

The Ottawa police blocked off sections of the city, creating 100 checkpoints in downtown Ottawa, which could only be accessed by residents.


The police also sequestered exits that lead to the city center off of the Trans-Canada Highway, according to The New York Times.

The majority of truck drivers have gotten the vaccination, it's a loud minority of truck drivers that are protesting the vaccine.

It is absurd that truckers are protesting something that will save their, their friends and their family's lives.

No rational trucker would protest brakes and seatbelts that protect them and save their life and yet they protest Covid vaccines protocols that protect them and save their life.

Took the anti-vaxxers stupid argument to the extreme and made it clearly absurd.

Give them a couple of days warning, start arresting, and tow trucks to as remote a location as possible, and then charge both the towing fee and a huge fine to reclaim their property. For those who can’t pay the fees, auction the trucks off after 30 days. I have no sympathy for protesters like this who block normal activity for weeks.
