Biden to speak to nation as crisis with Russia over Ukraine escalates
Biden will make remarks after he holds a call with translatlantic leaders to discuss continued efforts at deterrence and diplomacy and what the White House called "Russia's buildup of military troops on the border of Ukraine."
Although he has said a diplomatic resolution is still possible, on Thursday he called the risk of conflict "very high" and that he expects Russia to invade Ukraine "with the next several days."

(15,290 posts)and everyone outside the eastern time zone will still be at work or leaving work.
If Biden wants an audience, then whatever he has to say should be done in primetime, say between 8 and 9PM.

(14,061 posts)These afternoon addresses are practically worthless. It used to be I thought that POTUS could request prime-time air for addresses, etc. Are the major networks now so high and mighty that they can cow a president into airing important, national matters during the day, when most people cant watch? This is part of the responsibilities of their licenses, or so I thought.
God forbid, I guess, Biden interrupts the Olympics and whatever shit ABC and NBC have on tonight to discuss a deadly serious international crisis. Cable news is not a substitute for network coverage.
Another beef, if I may. Ive listened to most of Bidens addresses and pressers on NPR, while driving home from work. PLEASE, NPR, stop breaking in to tell us what were listening to. Were not morons.

(15,290 posts)Is meant to make the local and national news, but IMHO, that's not a good substitute for a primetime address that Americans can hear and judge for themselves.
