Russia says attacks not hitting civilians. Scenes in cities tell a different story.

Source: Washington Post

KYIV, Ukraine — From what was left of her fourth-floor balcony, an elderly woman tossed piece after piece of debris to the grass below. Out went heaps of glass, insulation and wood. She occasionally paused to survey the damage around her.

She is among the scores of Ukrainian civilians displaced from their homes in Kyiv on Friday after an unidentified projectile struck just outside their apartment block before dawn, severely damaging the building and wounding several residents, including at least one in critical condition. The apparent Russian strike left behind a large crater that now sits just a few yards from a playground, which remained empty Friday except for one young boy digging in the dirt.

Total numbers of civilian casualties in Ukraine remain unclear with no comprehensive figures released by Ukraine’s government. Early Friday, Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, said at least 137 people — civilians and military personnel — had been killed in the Russian attacks.

But Russia is facing growing accusations that its barrages are hitting civilian areas, and the tally of Ukrainians killed or injured could climb sharply as Russian forces push into Kyiv and other major cities, many now surrounded by Russian forces.

Not only would they not invade; they laid claim to troops were returning to their permanent garrisons immediately as training exercises had concluded.

(although one may easily have their doubts about that), but "policy" does not control the fingers on the triggers, nor aim the weapons.

The dogs of war unleashed are a fearsome and inaccurate thing, and there are always civilian casualties, regardless of the intentions.
Forces of the US have found this to be true, even in the age of smart-bombs. Once the shooting starts, there will always be civilian deaths.

Nothing meant to defend the Russians here, I hate the bastards, they know these facts as well as we do.... besides, other reports say they have "a list" of people to eliminate...

Even if what they claim is true, many civilian casualties are inevitable. How many did we kill, in the Iraq war?
(and I have to have faith that we did not intend such numbers, but "collateral damage"...)
But I do doubt that such target discrimination is their "policy" here.

War is hell. That is why it should be avoided.

I pray for the brave defenders of Ukraine. There have been many heroes, and there will be many more.

an elderly couple in that car or possibly just an elderly man. I heard it both ways. But I did see video of citizens trying to help an elderly man out of that car. He survived! Children and the elderly is what they are attacking. Pure evil!!
