14 shot at Vegas hookah parlor; 1 dead and 2 critically hurt
Source: AP
LAS VEGAS (AP) Fourteen people were shot before dawn Saturday morning at a hookah parlor and police said one man died and that two of those hit by gunfire suffered critical injuries.
The shooting happened at about 3:15 a.m. and preliminary information indicated there was a party during which two people got into an altercation and exchanged gunfire, striking multiple people, said police Capt. Dori Koren.
Koren told reporters no arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions were immediately available but that authorities did not believe there was any danger to the general public.
Police went to the hookah bar identified by the Las Vegas Review-Journal as Mannys Glow Ultra Lounge & Restaurant after receiving multiple 911 calls, Koren said.

(7,628 posts)speaking...The U.S. has a high rate of deaths from gun violence compared to the rest of the industrialized world: 3.96 deaths per 100,000 people in 2019. That was more than eight times as high as the rate in Canada, which had 0.47 deaths per 100,000 people and nearly 100 times higher than the one in United Kingdom, which had 0.04 deaths per 100,000.
I suspect it is even higher now. Maybe it is because I live in Texas where it is almost a religion but I think we have way too many guns which leads to a lot more gun deaths. It is either that or a terribly sadistic culture.
