McCarthy criticizes GOP members who spoke at white nationalist conference: 'Unacceptable'
Source: The Hill
...
But on Monday, in a rare rebuke, McCarthy broke his silence and said Greene and Gosars participation in the conference was unacceptable.
Theres no place in our party for any of this, McCarthy told CNN.
McCarthy also said Greene should have turned around after hearing Fuentess remarks warming up the crowd before introducing her on stage, saying, with that introduction, you should have walked off stage.
The party should not be associated, any time, any place, with somebody who is antisemitic, McCarthy said.

(18,628 posts)I know this isn't how to win friends, but I don't think a party should be able to subvert the voters' choice, especially if it's because they don't fit a party mold.
The idiots who put them in office need to be edified as to the ill effects of their choices. Hurt the members of their districts by refusing contracts and project funding and point out why they got short changed.

(12,533 posts)I understand what you're saying too. But haven't members been removed in the past? Or maybe they were 'encouraged" to retire

(18,628 posts)I recall the great Al Franken being pushed into the unemployment line over nothing, but he resigned in misplaced shame. MTG will never do that, but her and Kinzinger should serve the remainder of their terms in shame.
I suppose if the GOP had any decency they could remove them from the party thereby forcing them to fundraise as independents and dooming chance of re-election.

(6,931 posts)But Democrats in Congress were tripping over themselves to toss him under the bus ASAP. They just KNEW Republicans would do the same one day.
How's that working out so far?? Let's see 30+ Republicans demand that either of those asshat Republicans resign.

(18,628 posts)My point is that no party is allowed to force an early retirement.
Unfortunately, the great Al Franken left under pressure, not by authority of the party.
The reply was a plea for the republican party to basically impeach MTG.

(24,695 posts)but when you have people at some function called CPAC cheering for Putin, and then have a traitor sounding like a total fucking idiot and then having one of your members speaking at a white nationalist movement that is just dangerous as the CPAC bunch....your party is a danger to institutions of a democracy.... in other words your fucking fascists....

(3,495 posts)when reading the article, I was genuinely shocked by the level of bold depravity of Fuentes. And shocked that any members of Congress would stoop to participate.
"t one point during the conference, Fuentes said: Now theyre going on about Russia and Vladimir Putin is Hitler and they say thats not a good thing.
Even if Greene were not familiar with Fuentess views before the uproar, she was in a position to have heard a taste of his platform before speaking to the conference.
Moments before introducing Greene on stage, Fuentes mocked the value of diversity and said that our secret sauce is young white men.
And amid Russias violent invasion of Ukraine, Fuentes asked the crowd to give a round of applause for Russia. Attendees chanted: Putin! Putin!
As he announced Greenes entrance, Fuentes said: I think this is going to be the beginning of something great.
